have any of you heard of this bike? if so, what is the low-down about it?

I think they purchased the Balance inventory.

North Star is a name used on some bikes by a company based out of Houston called Roland.They have been around since the mid 80's.Mostly lower end stuff.Roland is the namesake of the company's owner.He is from Asia(Taiwan?) now in Houston and started importing a line of bikes to the US.I knew him when I lived in Houston and worked in bike shops.In the late 80's Roland sponsored a BMX racing team.Randy Spangler and Mike Hoadley noteably.Randy rode a Hutch Pro Racer.I forget what Mike rode.Maybe a Tahoe(his previous sponsor).Roland(the company) never made any bikes that were really worthy of a pro level race bike.
I think Roland may have been the distro for Balance as well.Which would explain the John Purse sponsorship(in the early 90's).John is also from the Houston area.
