Well on a whim, I decided to stop at a bike shop in Yuma, AZ while driving back to Phoenix from Califonia. Mr B's has been around for a long time, so I figured I might just might find something there. I found the place driving around a bit and went in. I cased the joint in typical VBMX fashion, looking for little clues. As I am looking around, I spot a bike without wheels on the ground under the in-for-service bikes. I spot the downtube sticker and almost let out a yipe! The bike shop employee comes around and I ask about it, thinking someone must have brought it in for a tune-up. He told me someone traded it in for a new bike. I ask how much - $50 plus tax! Needless to say I walked out with a big smile and lighter wallet. As I was picking it up, he ran and grabbed the wheels that came with it.

Sweet find! How come stuff like that never happens to me?

What size frame is that? I saw a kid last summer riding a similiar bike up here. only this one had a colored tufneck and 3pce cranks. also had different bars. the bike looked like expert size to me. this one looks similiar.
I was talking to the kids that were riding it and a nieghbor lady had give it to one of them. Otherwise it was gonna go in the trash.

I think there is a exploding market for early Free Agent stuff... the script decals. Did you see what a early FA bars and seat post went for last night on Ebay? About $162.00. So, for $50, I think you did well.

Are those Powerlite bars?

bmxcurator - I wish I had a bike shop who "called" me when an older BMX bike came in just so they can give it to me. Man - you are one lucky guy. Maybe I should have just asked if it was free... nah - I rather give them some money for it, how else can you expect a shop to stay in business, especially one that supports BMX. Which Mr B's do you live by? I though they had a couple of locations. Free Agents were a big part of BMX when I was teenager, thus finding this truly does bring enjoyent to me. Next time they call you and have something for you that you dont want, let me know, I'll drive the 200 miles to pick it up!

jfretless - I saw those! I was hoping to bid on them, but I that is too rich for my blood. They would have looked awesome on this bike.

I am probably the ONLY person who looks for it in this town, so my phone rings frequently with offers and trades, and "just get it out of here". I have passed on a ton of stuff, I just don't have time or $$ for it anymore. I had a mass giveaway of about 25-30 F/F sets to neighborhood kids. I'm glad that FA is coming around as being valuable, but I couldn't give one away a while back! I put one on Ebay, got the opening bid of $15, it sold for that and the guy never paid. Instead of going through with trying to re-sell it, I tried to give it away to some local kids, and they wouldn't take it( nice chrome, good frame)! Funny thing though, it disappeared at some point from the side yard, so evidently somebody changed their mind. I have seen the decals go for more $$ than the frame would for sure. Why doesn't someone reproduce the decals?

Someone did reproduce the decals, I got a set from Kastanman. There is a seperate topic on it in the this section about it.

Man, I need to start trolling bike shops and get the word out that I am looking for this stuff so that I can get lucky like you.

lets talk about bike shop finds i picked up a pre serial # Hutch pro racer 24 complete with blue arayas and early unstamped redline v-bars pro neck and origonal mx brakes for a whooping $40 bucks was sitting in the back room for about two years almost dropped my wallet

BTW sidehack I was the winner of those FA bars. Had to have them. I never saw a set BITD and this was the first set I've seen on ebay since I've been looking. Now you watch, next month their will be 3 set of bars go up to auction.

Oh, More new FA decals after the first of the year.

Yea, I just hope their the real deal. I'll have to get Galen to to verify, because I've never seen a set. I ran Fred'z on my FA.
