I just found this site, and it brings back a ton of good memories! I remember an article in BMX Plus about this bike in maybe the early 90's. I remember thinking I would do anything for one. It was a chromo monocoque frame, in bare metal. I specifically remember the pic in the mag. was the bike hanging on a scale, and I remember it being crazy light for the time. I've searched all over for info on it, but haven't found anything. Does anyone remember it, or has anyone seen one somewhere?
Thanks

I have and remember that issue of BMX Plus with the Rumblefish hanging on a scale. I can dig it up and take some scans of it and post here if you want.
I agree with ANT DOG, dark days indeed..

Hey guys, do your homework.....jeez!!
Rumblefish was waaay ahead of the other bike companys at the time. The frames had eccentric BB's (you DO know what that is, right?) & you could get them with canti-posts. The frame was light, well-built (in the USA), & had great geometry.
I have the test from BMX Plus! & they gave it rave reviews. In 94' I was on the fence with either buying a Rumblefish or a Mongoose Aluminum Solution. Unfortunatly I bought the Mongoose & that POS cracked at the headtube in 4 places after about 10 races. I should of bought the Rumblefish.

If you guys can, check out the vid "Building The Underground" - besides the sick riding from some NW riders, there's a part where one guy is finishing breaking off a top tube of a bike that looks like it broke at the weld from a crash or something. Anyway, top tube is off, and he yells out - "Check it out, just like a Rumblefish!" Hops on and rides it down the street w/ the top tube dragging on the ground - pretty funny stuff.

Didn't RRS have the EBB, vert drops, and canti posts about 10 years before?
Regardless, what are the benefits of EBB and vert drops on a BMX bike? I've read a bunch about it on the SS mtb forums - seems like it works well for disk brake applications where the axle is pulled and pushed as well as getting the rear wheel on and off for flat tire changes on the trail. Also, in some instances changing the BB height can be beneficial.
But on a rim brake BMX bike? I 'd prefer to have a set front end length and BB height and not have to worry about potentially creaking EBB's or possible BB slipage.
Looking at the pic, the geometry looks good, I'm sure it's light based on the tiny CS and single down and top tube. Cool to see a dfiferent design and technologies used. I'm just not sure if it was the right way.
Your absolutly right about RRS, they were waaaaay ahead for the time. I would love a set BB, I change my gears on my 20" twice a year. I have an indoor (40-15) & an outdoor (40-14). Even though the diff is 1 tooth on the rear cog, it makes my bike handle totally different & I HATE it!
I saw a few of these pups around here in the mid-90s' including a cruiser which was killer looking.

I think RRS was ahead of things w/ the canti brakes more than anything. I don't know how I survived w/ those sidepulls!
You know w/ an EBB the chainlength will still be the same for a given gear. The overall wheelbase will remain the same (which can be a good thing) but the BB height, chainstay length, and seatube angle may change.
BTW, have you tried half links? I just used one for a 3/32 Sram PC-68 chain on my S&M cruiser to get it at a CS length that is a good balance between shortness and enough tire clearance.
1/2 links?? I thought they only made those for the dirt jumpa crowd.

B - they make them in 3/32" - I got the connection from the mtb SS guys but the guy I bought them from was into BMX as well.
Here's the link:
http://www.spicercycles.com/index.cgi?cat=...t_desc=MountainAsk for Gene - I believe he is the owner - good guy, quick, information, and nice to talk to. Check out his Ti BMX handlebars - pretty sweet looking.
Thanks for the "link"
I thought I had all 4 pages from the Plus! test of the Rumblefish & I can only find this. I have the magazine but my scanner is dead.
