Ok...I'm working on what appears to be a 96 ish Assassin build but have a problem...
I rode from 80-83...and really just vanished from the sport for a long time. The mid school stuff...well I just don't know the accessory and parts from that era so I have some questions...
What are the decent and high end hub sets from this timeframe??
What are the good Stems from this timeframe?
What about Caniti Brakes?
Same questions with pedals ??
Just scratch off Hutch from the list...after seeing a set go for $600 + on E bay recently..WOW!
Thanks for any feedback.

if i remember correctly mid 90's was when the purple craze was in full effect. if you have a black assassin, get your hands on some purple crupi hubs and some purple sun rims. if you could find em, dk put out purple anadized stems around that time too. get some crupi round (closest to hutch without breaking the bank) or square pedals with purple anodized cages.profile trifan purple anodized too. pick up some shimano xt cantilever brakes and tie it in with a purple odyssey pitbull lever. comp 3's are a must, gumwall if you can find 'em.

How about a pic of your frame etc? I'm curious to see what the '96 Assassins looked like. I have a frame that was sold to me as a '91, it still has the caliper mount at the end of the top tube and pit bull mounts at the bottom bracket. Uses 1" threaded forks... I'll assume a '96 has canti mounts and uses 1 1/8" threadless forks? Is the frame still chromoly, or is your one of the aluminum models I have seen pics of?
Pics please! Tim

GT Mohawk hubs. Crupi pedals. Jad cranks.
I'm actually doing my new GT Box in polished AL and purple components...should be pretty sharp when all said and done.
