What year is this Bike and how much are they origanaly?

I purchased this bike for $8.99 at a thrift store this week. It also came with these Red Line wheels and I dont know if they are supposed to be on this bike.

I'm betting its a '97 or 98 as thats the last year they did polished aluminum

The Serial number is FA 20 U 8 01 09763

The polished aluminum comment is in question because the bike is Chromoly. But it does have some fat chain stays that look like they could be ALUMINUM.
