I was told where I might find a NOS Phase II frameset but I don't know much about them. Who is the Phase expert that can give me some background info?

You may want to check out the Mid School forum as they have been discussed some in the last few months, I am no expert on these frames but they were definitly mid school. I rodee for them in 1987 and 1988. I absolutly loved the cruiser frame and after selling it for the second time in my life finally just bought it back a few weeks ago and plan on seeing what I can do on it at the track.

Ernie Smith, who ran the Team Red Lobster BMX Team, pretty much out of Georgia during the mid and late 80's basically bought SRP (Staley racing products?) and created Phase II. The bikes were very nice for the day and actually sort of specialized in titanium Minis that rivaled the Titan fromes from the era. There pro bikes had a bracing tube that ran from the seat tube down to the horizontal brace on the chainstays and one from the seat tube to the downtube to reduce flex in the gate. I had a 20" and 24" and really liked both. Eventually I picked up a new 20" (something a little longer) but I continued racing that 24" through the 2002, and have now switched to a new school frame.

Here is a shot of my cruiser from about 5 years ago, the stickers are the correct design but not colors I just made them for this bike. 1987 Phase II pro crusier.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the info! I didn't know when they came out, but if they're mid-school I'll probably pass. Supposedly the guy has two NOS cruiser framesets not even stickered up. He does have the stickers, just never applied.

n20 - did you think a Phase II was the next version of the CW Phase 1?
n2o
Andy, are ya serious???

No, I knew they were a completely different beast, just didn't remember them as a kid so I had no idea when they came out.
AndyDiamond
Yeah - I was just wondering as I've never heard of the Phase II brand.

I would have thought the same thing.

PS: - you get my ca$h?
n2o
Got the $$$, will TRY to ship it out tomorrow.

That was my father who started Phase II and it's hard to believe how many years have passed since we were around. We got back into racing the past about four years ago here in WV and helped start an NBL track. If ya need any more info on Phase II just let me know.

Anyone looking for a Phase II jersey should look up Homer Croom at Coastal Bike Supply. We were going through his inventory earlier this year at Dothan Alabama National and he showed me a box full of nos jerseys still in the bags.

I would love one, as I have no idea what happened to mine. I still have both my Phase IIs, 20" & 24"

JRSMITH1, welcome to the site and back to BMX. tell you DAD that many of us owe him a ton of props for what he did for us. Tell him Stuart Harrison and K. C. Squires say hello and I can speak for the Strickland family and give thanks for them also. JR I a sure you do not remember me as you were just a tyke when I was on the team, but it is great to see you chime in. Hope all is well.

Wow - I've never even heard of these frames. They look cool.
I like the extra little stays, probably cuts some BB flex w/o adding much weight.
JRSMITH - I'm sort of half looking around for a new cruiser frame, got any of these sitting around? Whats the top tube length and what kind of brake mounts?
Where are you guys in WV? My brother lives in Martinsburg.

There is a titanium one on the bay now.

JRSmith1,

man, those bikes look really sweet. im sure your dad doesnt have any 20" bikes laying around, but if he does email me at jasonp7777@hotmail.com. i will pay whatever he thinks would be fair. they have a really cool look to them and i would give it a good home
JRSMITH1
Hey guys,
It is great to hear all of the interest, but there are none laying around up my way. We still have one of each titanium frame that's all. As far as the basic frame design they were awesome, they just need some updates to this day and age. We have kicked around many times getting back in the game, but just never fully committed. Oh yeah, I am just outside of Charleston, WV.
