Aside from 401's and Profiles, $$$, what would be "era correct" 3 pc. cranks for an 88 Robinson that are easier to find and not as expensive? Any recommendations?

you can use redline prolines they look like 401's . my man BRIAN P uses em. but you can get a set of profiles for 140.00 from dan's

Thanks Anthony! I have 401's on it right now, but I don't want what happened to yours happening to me.
Plus, I want to use the 401's on a new build I have.
I've been eyeing the new profiles, price is right there , especially since this is my primary rider.

The new flights are pretty cool...the double pinch bolt doesn't bother me like it does others. Maybe some gt profiles?

Profiles are the best no exception

If your going era specific cook brothers would also work their fairly available and cheeper than single pinch or box profiles. If its a rider, I mean a real rider, the profiles ar a good choice. I see used ones on evilbay all the time that go for 80.00 bucks.
Just my .02

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm gonna pick up some Profiles this weekend. This is the bike I ride daily with my kids. If you haven't seen it yet, here's a link;
Robinson 24, I realized that there is a down tube decal on it that wouldn't be correct for me to post a photo on this board. Thanks again.

Yup, I ordered them the minute I saw the post. I should have them by July 5th. That was too good of a deal to pass up, I think?

No way to beat that deal basically. The bottom bracket alone retails for $80.00. So you could get that if you needed a profile BB and get a set of crank arms for free.
