I'll admit it, I don't know the first thing about old school BMX bikes. I rode BMX, but never had a great bike. Someone I know has an ELF which he believes to be a 79 or 80. He says it's got Arayas, good cranks, etc. I have no idea what these go for, wanted to see if anyone on here could help. He is looking to sell it along with a with a GT and a Dyno. The GT and Dyno I will probably keep, but I'm not sure about the ELF. I posted this in Vintage BMX talk, but figured I'd post here to. I have to give the guy an answer by tonight.
Thanks!

I... not totally sure about this, but I don't think ELF was around that early. Though that doesn't sound like too bad of a package deal at all, really. I think I would've gotten an ELF when I was racing with money... pretty sure they didn't suck.

Check the Mid school BMX guys. ELF came out in the mid/late 80's. The double cross was the interesting one.

Elf wasn't around that early. Right now mid school stuff isn't going for much. Any pics of it?

I wish I had a pic, but i don't. The guy is going to bring it by tonight and I guess I will have to make a decision on the spot.

I do not think they made ELF's in 79 or 80. I always remember ELF's from the mid eighties through mid Nighties.

I could be off on this one, but I think 79 is too early.

Good luck deciding but I would bet it is not an ELF if it IS that old.

If you do buy it and it is an Elf and you don't want it let me know please.

It's definately an ELF and the guy said it was like $1,400 new so it must have some pretty sweet components. He wasn't sure of the age of the bike. I know my brother in law used to race BMX and he said he had an ELF and it was the lighest bike he ever owned. I think I'll try and score a pcakage deal for all 3 bikes, I'll post some pics once I have them. thanks for your help!

The concensus here is correct, ELF around '86. maybe a bit earlier.... If you post clear pics of the drops, decals and a full shot, you'll get an answer in seconds.

So did you get it and where are the pictures.
