Just curious. I barely remember them in the late 80's, but only on the magazines. Any body got one, or know anything about them?

I found a sticker in a vans box in my closet and it got me thinking.

Retrogeezer has one, other than that I don't know much about them.
LeadSled1
I loved mine. Steep steering angle 77.5 made it a bomber when diving into the corners. They were pretty light, with bullseye components (cranks, hubs), powerlite expert chromoly bars, DK stem, Hutch pedals and a Uni seat mine weighed in at 18lbs. One of my favorite bikes out of all the ones I have had. They disapeared after the whole Shawn T-bone Texas going to the slammer thing.

Did'nt kiyomi waller ride for them?

When did Texas go to jail? I remember them being pretty popular when I was racing in the early to mid-90's, but when I got back into it when I moved to the US they were gone. I remember Larry Miersch riding for them: didn't he win a Nat'l #1 Cruiser title while riding for them?

I remember a White Bear frame and fork tested in an issue of BMX Action in either 1987 or 1988 when they tested 10 "underground" frames. I remember the frames tested were White Bear, Titan, Brackens, S & M (the early Mad Dog frame), Phase 1, TNT, Elf, Free Agent, Cyclecraft and MCS.

I remember in the article that the White Bear that was tested had really tall forks for a 20 inch. I also remember that Richie Anderson rode for them at the time.

White Bear was based out of Nor Cal in the late 80's. I remember seeing Shawn Texas, Bryan Ruest, and Shea Pierce ride for them...not sure who else.
HRPdesigns
Richie and Ronnie both rode for them in December of 1987 at the crhistmas classic. I have it on tape.

Did Carlos at Boss build the White Bear frames? I thought thats what someone told me...

Hey there, just thought I'd throw this out there. Lonnie Means was the original owner back in the late 80's out of merced ca. and was usally found at the stockton BMX fairgrounds. The 20in frames were notorius for running cruiser forks. Believe it or not I actually had their proto type XL cruiser (serial#0000001 and nude frame) unfortunatly I got rid of it years ago.

Didn't the T-Bone have a rear bottom bracket brace similar to a Phase 2 frame?
Kastanman
Seems like I remember the brace, now that you mention it. I can't find much about them in the few BMXA's I have.
UsBoss4life
Yes the frame had a brace from the back of the seatpost tube down to the chainstay about a 1 inch or 2 behind the Bottom bracket

My friend won the Phase 1 from that issue.

Christy "Hacksaw" Homa

Texas riders: James Pritchard, Parnell Haley, Bryce Compton

Did the cruiser fork offset the steep head angle?
I remember the photo in BMXA with gOrk sticking his whole fist through the gap between tire and fork crown.

Shea "Commando" Pierce, Bubba McIntosh... They had a top rate team on a shoe string budget. And then -poof- gone.

Did those cool work boots cme with the uniform? tongue.gif

From what I remember the whole tall/cruiser forks debacle was a mistake when one of the Anderson's (can't remember which one), packaged the F/F for the BMXA shootout and it resulted in their termination from White Bear.
Kastanman
nice uniform.

Whitebear
I've got a 1986 20" chrome whitebear that i have been holding on to for years. I used to race in Michigan as a kid and pull this out almost every summer. Talking with Gary Turner GT the other day and he said that Whitebear is a really rare find now days. Ordered it from BMX Plus mag and was the only kid in my town or at local tracks with one. I've found out that they closed shop after two years, and wondered what is one of these worth now days? I'll post some pics soon.

My good friend broke one in 89 it wasnt a tbone but ended up having mild steel tubing and was huffy walmart type tubing [maybe 020 at best] that may have been why they were so lite?He broke it jumping bout 3 ft in the air ...He promptly sold the replacement .BTW it broke completely into 2 pieces ..

So lets hear why T-Bone got thrown in the slammer? Can't leave us hangin.
Lonewolf
I heard about this, but never any solid info.

BTW, I met him in 1988 (Nashville East coast Gold Cup) and he was very, very nice to me.
