Any body know how to id a free agent. my sn is 031021. Its got a 21" tt so i'm sure its an xl or limo.
Can you determine the year from the sn?
Galen Starlin
Free Agents made from when they started to when they sold out to KHS were sn by-first 2 digits=month---next 2 digits=year---last 3 digits= # of frames in that model made that month.
The serial # is stamped on the left rear dropout.
These would run up to '93-maybe a '94-they still made a few for certain people after they were really out of it.
If your serial # is correct-you may have a KHS made one. I believe they put the # somewhere other than the rear dropout. I wouldn't know anything about those. Hope this helps.

I got this bike used around 87. The serial # is on the bottom bracket. Do you know when they were bought bu KEH?
Galen Starlin
Free Agent and KHS hooked up together first in I think was '89. KHS made complete bikes under the Free Agent name(they didn't buy them out until the earlier '90's)They weretrying to get into the bigger picture by being able to offer lower priced overseas complete bikes to put into the bike shops. I know these bikes had the serial number on the bottom bracket. The full race bred frame and forks had the serial numbers on the left rear dropout only.

Do any of the older Free Agents also have letters as the first "digit" in the code? Or was that a KHS only?
