Anyone interested in meeting up sometime this Summer? Nothing formal. No judging, no awards. Just bring your bikes, beers, and babes and shoot the breeze for an afternoon?
Location? I was thinking about Baypoint Beach at Stoney Creek MetroPark. Plenty of grassy areas, alcohol allowed (if you'd like to have a few), swimming/activities for the family.....
BYOE! Bring your own everything.
Any interest? If so, I will contact Stoney Creek.
Randy?
jbros125?
Joe?
radlad1?
Btpd22?
Towne?
Turbo Todd?
Scott (Kappa)?
MotoBMX?
Motor City Mongoose?
Tommy2Wheel?
Deanna?
Racingchic?
Any out of staters?
Todzilla?
Moosegoose Nick?
Elf Dude?
There is nothing to plan, all I need to do is contact the park and make sure we can use a big chunk of grassy area to set up bikes.
Let me know....

I wouldn't mind coming but I will be at the Worlds from July 22-30th.
I also have plans during the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Where exactly is Stoney Creek?

Stoney Creek is in Shelby Township, Michigan. Roughly at 26 Mile Road and Mound Road. Here it is in relation to Detroit:

Questionable if I'll have time during this summer, post a date and we'll see.
As Jim mentioned, I've had thoughts of a regional gathering of friends sometime September/October or beyond. I'd like to think it would be worthy of having folks from this forum travel to but I'm honestly going to organize it to see several old bmx pals who aren't into our scene. It will be posted and open to all.
I can't imagine many of these local guys traveling far to attend so combining efforts with Tom for anywhere other than T.C. would lose many on my list.

Feel free to consider holding a gathering at our house.
We are 1 hour west of Lansing. 25 minutes from Modern Skate in GR.
We live in the country with plenty of space (fields and woodland), a pool, huge sandbox, and a pile of clay waiting to become a jump. We entertain quite a bit and would gladly host a gathering. We have plenty of room for sleep over and/or camp out. Weekend event is not a problem. We have two kids 4 and 7 who love hosting other kids.
All weekends work except for the following:
July-ALL
August: 18
September: 8 & 29 (yes we are hangin' home for the holiday)
October: 20 & 27
We keep the pool open well into October.
Just thought I would throw that out there.
I would attempt to make other location if it fits my schedule.
CYa!

Count me in for this get together. The only weekend I'm busy is the first weekend in August, otherwise I'll be there. I've only got two bikes, one oldschool and one retro newschool, but I'd love to show them off. From what's been posted so far, it seems the end of August would probably be the best time and have a good turn out.

Anyone still interested in getting together on the 26th @ Stoney Creek? Or does everyone want to wait till the fall when it's cooler? It's only a couple weeks away so I though I'd ask about the status of this get-together. I'm still in with a couple bikes and I've got two friends coming and of each of them has a couple bikes.

I apologize. I should have updated this thread earlier. I simply do not have the time in my schedule to do a gathering on August 26th.
Later on in the Summer (mid-late September, would be cool. But my homelife schedule is pretty solidly booked, so I'm not sure I can be the person to plan it. I will be devoting nearly every free minute I have to finishing our basement in preparation for Thanksgiving day at our house - which will include over 50 family members. This is a MUST-DO according to my wife, and that's why I kind of forgot about having the Aug 26th gathering.
I apologize for not updating everyone.
Anyone else want to pick a spot to meet? Doesn't have to be Stoney (especially in late Summer, because it gets pretty dead out there).
Hell, maybe we should just meet and party at someones house (and show bikes of course).

How about 10am onward.....just leave it wide open
Maybe we could have some "core hours" from say 12noon - 4pm? But people can get there as early as 10am and stay well after 4pm if they'd like?
Does that seems easy enough?
REMEMBER: This is BYOE (bring your own everything). No prizes or anything...just a meet & greet type thing.
I'll try to get a hold of Stoney Creek to make sure we can set up EZ-UP's and bikes near Baypoint Beach.

I'll fill out the form this week.

Here is what I posted on the other websites:
For those who can't make it to Brian P's....I guess we're going to try a little impromptu get-together in Michigan. Here are the specifics:
- WHEN: Saturday, August 16th 2008 (sorry for any conflicts with other gatherings)
- WHERE: Baypoint Beach
Stoney Creek Metropark
4300 Main Park Road
Shelby Township, MI 48316-4907
http://www.metroparks.com/parks/pk_stony_creek.php
- TIME: 10am until 4pm (or later)
This is a spur-of-the-moment type thing, so it's B.Y.O.E. (Bring Your Own Everything). Bikes, EZ-UP's, chairs, beverages (alcohol in CANS ONLY is permitted in the park), food, sunscreen, etc.
More of a meet-n-greet than an official show, please bring as many bikes as you can and we'll spend the day sipping some beverages and talking about bikes! No prizes, no judging, no pressure!

Bring the family! Baypoint Beach inside Stoney Creek is a great place. Sandy, man-made beach on a large lake. Full concession stand for food and soft drinks, plenty of activities, shade, etc...please check the website above for pics and details.
Please post into this thread if you would like to join us.

Look forward to meeting all of you as well, I have one photo album, though somwhere I still have some of my old Points papers from ABA. I just confirmed again with my 2 friends and there coming for sure with me. There each bringing 2-3 bikes and with mine that makes 8-10 bikes total. They'll be a mix of old, mid, & new school and some custom retro's.
There's a thread in the Vintage Racing section titled "michigan bmx 1979-1985". I was thinking maybe we could put a link to this thread in it to let more Michigan people know about this get-together. Only 4 more weeks....
Also, anyone talk to Dugan Neil at all? I met him last year and got his phone number but I lost it. I know he's got quite a few bikes, so if someone else knows him, let him know about this get-together. Maybe he can bring some bikes out to display.
