Jer, if Eddie Fiola can earn the King of the Skateparks title wearing a full face helmet (Bell Moto III), you can race in one. biggrin.gif

Well said Mark and there certainly is a big picture and I've turned on certain things too.

I don't see what the fuss is really. Full faced Bell Moto III's have been around since 1979, so its not surpise that there available for a reason. Remember the big Premier bmx full faced helmet craze??? Everyone had one. The Rondo team had them, etc, so its not a new thing at all. I had a Bell moto III back in 1980 and I hated it, so I was then given a Bell RT (From Rydjor bike shop) in place of it and the open face felt right. Today, I wouldn't recomend an open faced, but to each there own.

Its all good, know lets F'n move on.

Sure there is reason for full faced helmets. They wouldn't have made them if there wasn't. The fuss is a track making them mandatory even though open faced helmets have been used for years.

For every person thats had their face jacked up with an open faced helmet, theres a thousand guys that hasn't. And for you people saying you like having your teeth, thats what mouthguards are for.

So I ask again, if full face is your preference, does it take a rule for you to wear to one?
wds
No, the rule has nothing to do w/ my helmet choice. For racing, I prefer the full face.
And I can see where you're going with this & understand. The point you are trying to make is it should be racer's choice. I guess it's hard to argue with that.
I'll also add, that despite preferring the full face, I'm not some saftey freak. I never wear a helmet when riding out in the street - commuting, or street riding. And at skateparks, I only use that nigh-useless Pro-Tech skate style helmet if required. But as an avid skatepark rider, I'll take a skatepark crash over a race crash anyday. Due to all the factors involved, I've found that race crashes are just too unpredictable and sudden.
-Bill
Guest200901
I've always used a full face, other than in the very 1st few races. Other than keeping you from having a mouth full of chiclets, It does also help in not breaking the jaw. This track is the only one that requires it here in Minnesota, but I guess is not enforced....

BUT, if KOP would even just show 1x, other than to sit in the stands, he may have to "At LEAST" dig up a mouth guard, but he may throw a fit about that as well...
wds
Just hit me, can you even buy an open-face helmet anymore?

wds
That's right - you've been messing w/ the Faction logo for awhile now. About time someone took a swing at old man Conley.
Besides - if that's Apold's helmet, he'll need to rep his sponsor.

B. Apold
Simson open faced mate!! (there's that word again) tongue.gif.

If I ran a real race with other cars on the road course, it would be full faced helmet x 10, but a real full faced helmet, not a moto/bmx style. Personally I should have my head examined for using a Fly 303 helmet... Not exactly cream-of-the-pie.

Madcowpie wink.gif... I choose to run a full faced helmet and.. I save 15% on my dental insurance by switching to Geico.

I think KOP should pull a custom hacksaw job and carve off the front of a fullface until its a NFL kickers spec helmet. -still technically a full face.

Brad...cmon get in the mix for the Condo!-You playin hard to get?

PS Brad(and anyone else wholikes Euro type races..)check this Schumacher clip!...thats what we should be doin in
the off season.

ps, BEll made fullface Moto 3's or officially called the "Moto-Star 3" early as 1974! the one I just sold on ebay(sorry Condo) was a 1975 issued model. A man from Japan bought it.

Back in the early days of cycling, riders would hollow out a pumpkin and use that as a helmet.
Here a BMXer from Iowa recreates this historic fact:

It's good enough for Charlie Brown:

The Condo Classic just picked up another sponsor! The Hampton Inn Of Lino Lakes They are also sponsoring the ATR web site.

They have donated a 1 night stay to be drawn for. All prize drawings well be drawn from all race entries

The Hampton Inn also offeres all Rehbein's racers and families a discounted rate, so if anyone plans on staying the weekend be sure to let them know why you are there. I think it's like $69.00 which is a huge discount Reg. $109.00
yayooBetcha
For the Condo Classic:
Are the skill levels mixed together? i.e. expert, intermediate, novice, etc.?
Is it twenty inch bikes only or are cruisers racing too? Will 20's and 24's be combined into one class or would they run seperate?
Paul Springer
It is my understanding that it is ride what ya got. I believe that Mark is going to try and group the classes as best he can by age & ability. We recently added a "Parents of Racer's" class and a Women's Class has also materialized, tell Kim to dust off the bike for a cameo. I think there is a boat load of lurkers following this and it is going to be a lot of fun.
Guest200901
Yes, ride whatever you what (without a motor though biggrin.gif )

Classes:
26 -38

39 – 49

50+ (needs to be 3 or more, if not they will run the class below)

Women’s 26+

Parent of Racers (this was added, because of several track staff, of kids that race where asking to be a part of it)
Guest200901
Also, Doug did confirm that there well be an open practice that week before the 4th. He well let me know when that well be a soon as he knows
Paul Springer
I heard a rumor that REHBEINS is getting its holiday track modification. Last year this was a big subject, I wonder what they are doing to change it up. I think they are flattening the whole place to make it open face helmet friendly, LOL. Just kidding a little there, no harm or foul meant.
B. Apold
I say ditch the first double and make it a single roller like last year. Not much else you can do in there without making it to fast.

How bout change up the rhythm section.. 3 rollers, a bigger single jump, then 3 more rollers...? I noticed the speeds at the end are getting hard to stop for the older Experts.
Gary Walton
Springer, why are you always trying to start trouble?

I heard Rehbein's is putting Envirotac down over the break. Should make a big difference with the dust. I was also told any Condo participants taking part in the open practice will have to start facing backwards in the Condo mains. Or something like that.
Gary Walton
BA. There's no such thing as too much speed. But now that you mention it, I did burn a pretty good flat spot in my rear tire the other night. Maybe just a few big mattresses on the end wall. A little BMX/old-time hockey.
bnd
From 97'-01' Utah & Idaho used to meet halfway & have to race in a very small arena like your guys. This vid is from early 98'. As you can see it was tight. My friend Jace gets the pop but I pull on the inside, we both go for it, lock bars & can't get off each other. I bent my forks as we both hit the fence. Good times.

I think just putting a MNFaction sticker on the front number plate or your "walker", should get you in the 65+ class. But, jaust a reminder, there needs to be 3 or more to be a class.

Disclaimer - No put downs were meant by the MNFaction sticker comment, for fear of rebellion or disgruntled behavior on the other teams behalf

Funny you should say that....Sandberg has a $100 on anyone doing a backflip during the main in the 1st straight, doing the triple, AND announcing at the same time...Sandyredshorts, cough up the dough now....

Can I borrow your walker, mine is in the shop! ph34r.gif
trackdaddy
Well, I think the hard part will be making the main. Once there I am sure I can do a back flip off the step up - (do I have to do it on a bike?) then as I am crashing on the approach to the triple I figure that my speed will propel me (cart wheeling) over the triple. The anoucing part... oh ya.. I will be saying lots of stuff... closed caption for the family event. (Just joking) I do plan on riding at the event and it sounds like we may have like 10 guys and gals coming with to share in the fun1

How about a pit-bike race? biggrin.gif

Yes, Lembke's on the roster.. Lots of good stories to laff and cry about... LOL!!!! I still think if Troy came back to race, he would shake things up. Troy, I know you can still ride, so if your lurk'n, get a bike damn it!!!

I'll work on the John and Al Stevens, Chad Apold and Rob Tracy. i REALLY wish Shan Lynde and John Tribbett would make it... Shan's in Alaska and John, I'm not real sure, but I think he's still in MN.
