Hey MC,
What ever happened to the book idea? Late 70's and 80's.. I know a guy here in Waseca that has a whole box of slides that are from 82-85.. I haven't seen them yet..His dad took alot of pics at the races.. mostly Mankato..Roch Austin Albert lea.. I remember one shot, of the Mankato track on the very first race. Just shows the whole track..
But, as long as there's still alot of us.. that are still in our sound mind.. Stories, bikes, races, injuries,, friends, there is alot...It would be a good thing to get people stoked to.. and good for a laugh..
I though that was a good idea..

Um, yeah I researched that, and at the cost of $15,000 I would have to charge $1000 per book to the 15 people that would buy one. BUT, that would leave me with 985 that would sit in the corner in my basement that if I waited another 20 years (I'll be 65 then) I could ebay them.
Sorry, but not going to happen. Possibly a simple black and white paperback may work though. Ya never know....
Tell yer new/old buddy to get scanning the slides though, and I'll get him a whole spot on the old school site! Did ya telling about the old photos that were up though?

This guy is a tough cookie to get cracked. He keeps making excuses. Hard to get ahold of. I remember back in the day, every hear or so, they invite people over and we'd all watch the slides. When his dad recently died, the one thing he wanted before the new wife took everything was those slides,, and that is about all he got..
Now with winter coming, it may be impossible to get a good look at them for awhile.. I'm still thinking the book is a good idea...But I guess financially, we'd need a backer right?

Yes! Garrett Williams. Between him and Craig Anderson they had some mighty nice JMC's. John Tribbet had a JMC for a while but cracked it pretty quickly. I wish John, Shan and Rob would visit here.

I remember Williams a bit. For one, he was the only black guy that raced, as far as I remember. Also, he wasn't really that fast or anything. But wasn't he from Albert Lea or something. That JMC cruiser was sweet. Also that other guy by him, from Albert Lea... Jeff Weberg.. that guy was cool. I got to be good friends with him towards the end. I even went to his house to ride, and he came to Waseca to ride. I bought his quarter pipe.

I spent many of hours riding with Weberg, Biggs, Anderson and Garret. Rydjor use to have a bike shop in Albert Lea, so I'd ride with Dan from Austin to AL and ride all day with those guys.. Fun times! Albert Lea is really spread out and Hilly compared to Austin, so it was a work out.

HOLY CRAPOLI!
Just got an email, that fits into the above photos era!
THE EMAIL:
Hi Mark,
I was just goofing around on the internet, and I found you! I did a
little looking a few months ago, but this was the first time I've found
anything on you. I talked to someone who graduated with you about a
year ago in Albert Lea, and they said you were in Austin. Was that right?
Are you still in Southern MN?
Your web site is pretty cool. Great photos. Are you doing that
professionally? I notice in the photo of Rainier there's the Conley number
plate. Very cool. You always did great stuff. Very creative. It's
good to see you're still doing the stuff you like and are great at.
Drop me a line sometime and let me know how everything is going. I
live in Richfield, so maybe we could get together for lunch or a beer or
something.
Take Care,
Grant Nielsen

There it is! First off, Rick Kast, In order for me to get a old school photo of you, you had to atleast be up front once and awhile.
Second, I can't believe that. I remember Grant Neilson. He was always around, with Jeff Weberg. I remember riding arould Faribault, with those guys. He was more of a goofy type guy... Awesome!

Grant was from AL. He always had something up his sleeve
Jerry, didn't you and him ride on my 1/4 pipe one weekend or a day with a bunch of kids?
Sounds like Grant didn't even find me through BMX related searches, just my photography site. I think we well see him around soon though....somewhere...maybe here...or maybe the Barn (which Jerrrrrry is to busy with polishing his helmet and other dust collecting items right now to show up and ride the "BURM" wall for everyone)

That's Paul Cater's bike. It sold once, but then I think the seller bailed out or something as the bike was relisted... 1500.00 is a good price. Those parts bought individual would have made that a 2k plus bike. I know, I'm there now.
