I wouldn't consider 10.00 let'n go of a huge amount of cash... These bikes can bring money! There not really for riding, there for conversation.

My god. Are you serious? Wow! I can hear it now:

"Honey, look at this vintage Schwinn Scrambler. Is this not the greatest thing since Scissor Sisters?"

Your boyfriend responds:

"Ah hmm, that's great but where is the rubber fist you promised?"

Shocked, you continue:

"But honey, (NOT BUTT HONEY) I will double my money in ten years"

So it all makes sense now. Thanks B_APOLD for setting me straight.

Or did you?

Why do you feel the need to start crap on this thread?... Please knock it off. Frankly I don't care if I set you straight... Its a vintage bmx site, that's what we talk about...

Wow, this is the discussion?

For what it's worth - my desire to collect some of these bikes is purely for the nostalgia and has little to do with anything financial. When I tried to take the Mag Scrambler out of our sunroom to hang on the wall at my office, K. (my GF) said "no way". She had grown to appreciate the simple beauty as well - and likes to occasionally gaze at it across the room. Mission accomplished.

So I'll take some steel wool to this new find, polish that old chrome to a shine - and hang it on the wall at my space as a conversation piece, knowing that I have preserved a little piece of history that has some financial value should I choose to part with it. The tires and pad set alone are worth around $100 - so parting with some beer money is not a big deal. It's money in the bank.

I love the survivors, the fully restored bikes have little appeal to me.

When your right your right.

And your right. My bad.

I did, in my own defense, delete the original post.

My work is done here. I have seen what I need to see.

Moving on.

Believe it or not, it was a discussion... I love the bikes, keep'n coming.

Any of you guys have interest in this scrambler before it goes on eBay? It has the wrong rear wheel and somebody riveted a plaque on the top tube with a kid's name on it! It's trashed and rusty, needs restored. Anyhow, I'm not starting crap, just wanting to know if you guys want it before it goes on the bay. { btw, why would somebody start crap on vintage? I never understood the interwebz}

I don't get it either Pat.

BTW - the front wheel and pedals are not stock either (everything else looks original). I would just ditch both wheels before you sell - save yourself some shipping headaches.
mikkopeters
Pat, you still have that pic of your garage collection that was circulating around VBMX a few years ago? smile.gif

You gonna make it to Rockferd this year?
pquinnbmx
I probably have the pic somewhere but they tore down the storage units and built a hiway there, so my bikes had to move to a secure location on my compound, a shed. ha ha YES I want some rockford action!! yes rto ockford.
mikkopeters
Holy, you mean that pic was REAL? I thought it was Cash just busting kiwis.... smile.gif

Grain Belts on me when I sees ya. Happy holidays to you & the missus.
pquinnbmx
yes that pic was real. the real one was. I think cash had another one that he was joking around about- with a yard full of bikes in some third world country, but I do have like 150 bikes or more.

I love how everyone remembers their last race like it was yesterday, then they finally stop talking and show up and the tracks seem twice as long, the jumps twice as big and the road rash and tweaked knee from the first face plant never seem to go away.

This all makes sense now!!!!

I can't remember my last race, so thus must be why I don't have the urge to race again! Well spending a couple hours in ER with Kraker "may" have had a little to do with it...

I have probably one of the best insurance plans available and I still don't want to ride/race all that much and its not really about the insurance.

Your right though Gary, its all different when you actually do it. The barn is an odd place to try and ride again because its small and the jumps are big. Truly a techincal track and I love it. DUG did a great job with the new layout. Its nice to see it evolve.

You don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing...

Rehbeins is getting its holiday track modification as we speak (type). I think they are going to make it a little more technical because some find it a little to easy. I think they are changing the first straight triple, second straight quad & approach to concession corner.

Just got back from the barn. The remod Troy put down is a huge improvement. Still not very technical, but flows really nice and you have to give a little more thought to the first jump. First straight is a step up with a double into the turn. Second straight is now a decent size triple with a medium tall table into the corner. Everything is much faster with a little more emphasis on long manuals.

I'm sure Gary's as fast as ever. Gary you healed after Isanti?? Eeeeeeek! I bit my lip watch'n that.

The new track layout sounds interesting. I hope to make practice this Friday.

It looks like the Condo kicks off the big barn weekend. Friday is a single pts pre-race, Saturday is the State Qualifier, & Sunday is the Redline Cup Qualifier, as listed on the website.

Friday night is usually a good night for us old guys to get out to the barn for practice. Normal practice schedule for the barn is Tues. 6-8 & Fri 6-9, with racing Sat & Sun. It would great if you could make it out sometime. Check out the link Mark posted for holiday times.

Sounds like fun! I ran against the boys last year for Nancy's benefit (god bless her) and it was weird running against seven 24" bikes. I think "DUG" was running the random lights that night as well, so that was new for all of us. All in all the main sucked. Russ crashed before the first jump and knowone knew, so Sandberg and I are going into the first corner backwards for the second lap and here comes Russ going the other way....LMAO!!!! game over! Then JT pounds head first into the dirt leaving paint from his helmet on the dirt....man... bad deal

Mark? whatever you think.
