Willie Hubener.........
I remember Diamond Back's team manager, the late Sandy Finkelman talling me
(a year before he passed away) that Willie had contacted him and was in college.
Think he may have said he was playing football. Sandy was very happy to hear from Willie.

Funny that Torker pic on page 81 (?) It could be a jab at Torker cause they were going bankrupt
at the time. And when you're going bankrupt...... you owe people money.... advertising, racers, cough cough.

Brad you mentioned Wayne Croasdale. Do you remember what team he was on in 81'?
He wore a black and yellow uniform. His teammate Mike Kitchen joined Vintage a few
years ago. Asked me if I remembered him.
I said "Who can forget that name? Just can't remember anything else though." LOL!

Ya, I saw Wayne, Tinker, Leary and Mike Kadroski all in the same day... only in So Cal would that happen. I lived real close to Mikes place/track off the 14... Man I haven't talked to him in 10 years. Last time I seen him I was at the Olive Garden in Palm-Caster and they called out "Kadroski, table for 2". I peek over the bar and there he was.... Great guy! Great moto rider.

Karman huh? She was the bomb back in the 90's. So did she graduate from the Jett club or was that a publicity stunt? LMAO! tongue.gif

Took a look a page 79 where you guys wer talkin about the 08' ABA Grands.
Great to see Dave Christensen racing! I heard he had been back racing again.
Did you see the clip of him in Joe Kid on a Stingray where he's beating
Schwinn's Donny Atherton into the first berm at Rancho in San Diego!!!!
Any day in 79' - 80' where you were beating Atherton was a good day!!!!
Plus if you hadn't heard, Rancho's first berm was legendary for it being TERRIFYING
and notorious for sending plenty of racers to the hospital. Way to go Dave!

I remember that pic of DC that he's using for his avatar.
I'm sure he was diggin' the power wheelie with the chain flexing
in front of Atherton AGAIN! Some just have it too good!!
That was a Nor Cal race. Maybe Fremont? Angelscamp?

J.J. Donny Atherton & I always had great racing. Donny had the edge! I had a ton of fun racing all the guys from the West! Many memories, I wish it came as easy as it did was when I was 16..!....#@$$^&!%^&! My son is 9 and daughter is 6, and I enjoy every second of seeing those two on the track. Here is a photo Donny Atherton BITD circa: 1982 while I was on ABA tour across USA.

MN2Z
BITD: 1982 I took an opportunity to tour with the ABA on portion of the ABA™ National Tour circumnavigating a large portion of the US. One stop Galveston, TX in which there was always down time and we never got in trouble! As the photos go, tour truck with Gene Roden. Sitting in the hotel room, Mike Paulson – team Schwinn™, forgot the guys name sitting next to Mike his dad operated the Gold Line® products truck from ABA, and we are wondering what to do next? Next photo how about diving of 2nd floor balcony? No how about biking off the second level or the diving board? Every stop had a different story…………

small world. I took off from there April-92 for Nor Cal where I still live. The U was a blast BITD. Were you in the service, or just recollecting? Bartlett & The Avalanche still reside there.

I believe he had turned pro by then, on & off the bike wink.gif The Holiday card was about some of his clothes being lifted from his motel room. I find out later that it was indeed the friends I had been with. I regret not getting his stuff back for him. Such is life...

Kevin M.

He's had a rough go huh?
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Brad,
Yeah Kevin M did have it rough. I knew two of his old teammates.
Rumor was it was a jump where he hit his head really hard that made him odd.
They said he was already a strange guy to begin with.
Stu said something like his friend at a bike shop saw Kevin
a while back and said he looks like a run of the mill tansient. Sad.....
That's all I've heard.

I was digging around for a piece of film last weekend and it got me going on a couple of little projects. One of the cool things I re-found was a stack of number plates I must have stashed away years ago, pretty much every plate I've ever had (a couple are missing).

As I was going through them I had a couple of realizations - when we switched to ABA in 1981 I pulled my NBA numbers off in haste, so there is an #810 on the plate that I used for most of the 1980 season as 7z- as documented on many photos on this site. The #7z was much cooler, oh well. The other is that I seemed to be pretty taken with a certain girl for a couple of years, she was sweet and then some.

I'm hoping some of you other guys will do the same. They're mostly in order.
