Here we go kiddies!

These are from Dan Quigley/Penn Cycle. He said he has photos from 1979-1994 and said it would take a couple weeks to scan and send to me.

So here is a sample of things to come

Wow, this is very cool stuff. I look forward to seeing more of this time capsule stuff, thanks for sharing.

That photo from Brooklyn Park...Gary Erdman could kick all of our fannies, using just one arm. In fact, one of his arms is bigger and more muscular than two of Buttertaint's legs.

The Rondo/indoor pic: Troy Moser's dad is almost as buff as Erdman. Must be something about gate starters. What would have happened if the two of these guys grappled? Something about an unstoppable force and an immovable object...

Butter: You've really had a crummy 08... In all seriousness I'll ask for good things for you from the big gate starter in the sky.

KOP: Is it true that all you ever wanted was a Pepsi and sock puppet?

Jack on the other hand, is sporting the closest things to Butterstumps legs

With a rubberband start?

I balanced until Pat snapped the bungy cord. I could balance for hours for some reason. It didn't always work out though. snap! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh! ouch!

Cool pics from Rondo. Check out the chain on redline man...gld I wasn't racing against him.. Eeeek!

John Sandberg: Wasn't it Tammy Ross? The girl from Iowa??? check 13-14 girls ^^^

Great pictures. Boy, those guys in green look good. Talk about intimidating.

Can anyone ID the guy in blue/white behind the gate in the Civic Center photo. Looks like the jersey says Bike World. He looks big.

Yo Dudes,
The Suicidal Tendencies concert was amazing. Me and Mike sweated it out in the front row the whole time. It was a big sweaty mess.... Check these pics..

I thought Hardcore acts from 1982 were to burn out before fading away?

Those guys didn't show any signs of slowing down, Muir was into it as much as Mike Clark... and the place was sold out. The roadies looked a little worse for wear... LOL.

There was a drummer you would have dug, Brad- he was with Madball. Intense mofo... he was focused and played really well.

focus is good. There so many good players nowdays its hard to keep up. I'm still an 80-90's mid school jazz drummer fan...

So Troy calls....says he's never even spoken to Brad on the phone?

Brad....you lonely? making up make-believe friends again? Dooode, you need to hook up with KOP and his imaginary friends

What years was Le Seuer track around?
B. Apold
I'd have to say some of the fun times came from the Armory. Man that was short.

Mark, where in Owatonna was that track. I lived there fo 3yrs and it never crossed my mind once about its location.

Shakopee track. Back in 97-98-ish I remember the "new" track in the little valley area next the auto-x parking lot. Needless to say on bmx and auto-x days there were allot of people running around. they eventually had to stagger the events because there were kids running onto the car track.

Some of those other tracks I had no idea.... wow! I'd like to get some years on some of those. That Albert Lea indoor track is weird too imagine to. It looks like Austin's arena with steamers! tongue.gif

rick kast
yes, i was at the kov contest. so were mikko, kop, grande, conway, benning.
and i am sure many others. yes, same joint. it was barely big enough for the ramp, i don't know how the hell they raced in there!
mikkopeters
Didn't Dale Fisher or something like that run the LeSewer track? I heard the pole barn is still standing (which isn't a shock). His family is from my hometown, his brother Brian raced for many years but oddly enough, he and I never talked BMX until we were both out of high school.
King of Pipeline
There is a show on MTV right now about BMX racing...

That Le Suere track. I never knew that existed.. That was the site of the for KOV contest.. Talk about legendary...

Man, those pictures are so cool. Keep them coming.

Thanks Mr. Quigley!!!

Alot of those tracks were after my time. I do remember the story about the Champlin track, and how it came to an end.

Goes like this: Dumb kid on a 10 speed decides to try his skills at BMX during one stupid night in the dark. Hits a jump bashes his nutz and goes home balling. laugh.gif

Mom gets into the picture and decides to sue the city...she wins, end of track. The city can't afford the insurance. sad.gif By-By BMX in Champlin

A lot more of what some of us raced on HERE
Just thought I would share with the rest of the world.

MANY Iowa tracks we raced at as well.
B. Apold
I raced in Iowa more than I did Minnesota, so seeing Dez. Moinez, Cedar, and many others brings back great memories. I only raced Edin Prairie, Richfield, Shorewood 2 or 3 times the entire 8yrs. I raced. Crazy!

Great photos on the other thread.

Makes perfect sense really. Most or allot of those tracks were just closer than the Metro. Traffic was surely never an issue on those two lane roads to Iowa vs Metro. Like I said, I was hardly ever at EP, RF, SW, BP, etc, so obviously didn't race John, TC, Krone and Kragi all that much, and they were my class guys to beat/race in MN.
Locally I raced Miland, Ford, Ringenberg, etc. It was usually 15 over expert somedays. I still had people to race know question, but its always fun to race everyone. I regret not making the metro scene much, but it became a money thing at the end of the day for my parents. I had a paper route and it help some. So that's kinda my Iowa story. Waterloo was my track, but I liked Dez Moinez and Marshaltown as well....and of course racing in the dark at Newton Iowa.
I still haven't seen pics of that starting hill since the 80's. 52-16 wouldn't have been enough for that hill. I remember slamp'n on 42-16 (Brad's big gear, look out!) and by the 3rd pedal your feet would fly off because there was nothing left to pedal... LMAO!!!!
I was leading a double point race main race and I lost sight of the track/jump (in the dark) and went over the bars right before the finish line and Darren Issacson ran me over then he flipped over the bars and I guess I touched the finish line first. There was allot of drama ove that deal... Funny! Issacson and his bike hit me so hard I bounced. Jeff, I think I was with you that weekend...? no? Its foggy!

Man, I can't wait to see the rest of Dan Q's collection! He must be scanning those directly from slides? The light and color are great.

Paging MR Apehold.

Your bike is here. Price is right. I lost your number.

Someone call the dork at the nail salon so he has a chance to jump on this. Put an X15 (or whatever it is) plate on it, and its right there methinks.

Quigs: Not sure if you're lurking here, but the photos you've sent Conley are stunning, historic and greatly appreciated.

I never had a clue you traveled that much back in the day. Amazing.

I'm surprise Elmer gave you that much time off!

Thanks for sharing.

Ohhhhh, 40lbs of bmx luv there baby!!!! Good deal too considering they were 108.99 in 1976....If my memory serves me. That's X75. In historic jumping photo the 7 had come off somehow. I use to get really muddy and I'd have to wash the bike with a garden hose.

Shawn and John, you'd be proud of me. I've been pounding the pedals on the mtb that past few days. Each day a little warmer outside, and today......just perfect riding weather.

Brad, I heard the trails at Theo have been pretty good lately, people ride them all winter (although I'm sure they were soft today). I'm up for doing a lap or two some time this winter.

I'm also planning on going to the Theo snow park once a week - it's only 5 minutes from my office.

It just feels good to ride some. I've been really bad the past few months. Of course once I do hit the barn again the 20" will feel like (as Springer would say) a clown bike.

My Derailer cable poped out when I was riding and now the shifter is kinda wacky. Its not a Farvel of MTB's by any standards, but it works okay. (01 Schwinn Mesa 17") and no its not the Target model. Got'r at Penn Cycle/800.00, season close out for 475.00.

It really is cool. I was kinda holding out for that Ames frame that keeps slipping away from me on ebay.....shucks! No kidding, the same frame has been bought 3 times and I've missed out by pennies each time. That Schwinn is alot of bike even at buy it now price..... Hmmmmm.

Anyone race/ride this weekend?
