Scott, the pic of Sandberg (top pic) is that Miland or me behind him?? It looks more like Sean. I was only at EP a couple of times.

Correction, thats Sean Miland. I can see #202.

That was funny... I walked into that one. Then again, who displays trophies in a shoe box ready to toss.... LOL!!! KOP, your a mad man
King of Pipeline
Hey, I see a few second place trophies there....Not bad for me....

So, let's continue this discussion.. I do have a hard time throwing any trophies away. But what the hell am I supposed to do with them.. I do keep the better ones.. like a few first place, and my first trophy... is it cool to throw them away...if I need the space.....? What did you guys do with all your all ones?

God that was one of the weirdest days my dad and I ever had....a van full of bent, rusty, neglected plastic and woodgrain contact paper covered towers representing alot of fun.We took them to the Waste Management transfer statin aka The DUMP. Threw them in 1 at a time-almost ceremonial really! My dad kept commenting on the fact each trophy was an entry fee, gas to the race etc. I think the 80's trophies were wayyy over the top and unnecessarily big for local racing. Small medals or plaques would have sufficed dont you think??? If you can lower entry fees by reducing trophies then I am ALL FOR IT!!!
Rydjors Dark Sider Black Sheep 1%'r
By the way, the Eden Prairie Sandberg photo is strange since John and I almost never raced each other. I never raced opens since they didnt pay district points and preferred cruiser class for an extra class. Must either be a May or June race since those are the 2 months were the same age I think.

Sean it may have been practice too.... How knows, but your right, you and John had a small time window to race each other.

For some reason I do feel bad for throwing them out.. But what am I supposed to do with alot of them. I keep the tall ones and my first one.... But yeah, each one did represent a good day, alot of riding.. and fun....

But sheez,,, they are sort of big just for a local race.. But that's one of the reasons I raced too. To get that trophy.. WHen your that age,, or around here, we had them set up in our room and when friends came over,, it was cool to have alot...

I had somewhere around 400-500 after it was all said and done and I'm sure 50 of them were my brothers too, anyway, I gave them all to my uncle who (at the time) owned a bar. He then had pool, dart, tourney's and gave them away to the whiners! ...Probably 1st-10th place, LOL!!!!

I'm sure a piece of me is in every drunk's house in Mower County. I gave him all those trophies and you know what he gave me (cheap sob)?? Two cases of Corona.

Chad and I built a 20ft trophy (serious) in the driveway and stood up and then pushed it over and watched it smash... Not what happend to that one...haahaaa
King of Pipeline
I don't feel so bad about getting rid of most of them anyway... I'll still keep about 20,, which is enough.. right?

I only have so much room.. My magazine collection,, is all over the place. I have like 22 boxes full of BMX magazines.. Then not to mention all the bikes I have too, for some reason..

Do I possibly have another Haro arriving next week.. A 2004 retro... ? Only time will tell on that one..
psycho
Happy b-day KOP. Retro Haro, B-day present to self?

Maybe you guys can confirm something. I just woke up and saw this scary bright orange ORB in the sky that I don't remember ever seeing. I have a major case of sun deprivation, WAHOO!

I think I just saw Doug Carlson go streaking by my house?

Very nice,, is that him....why not? Good to see some humor to start out the weekend....

Looks like today will be nice. Got out and enjoy...

We had a fun nite of racing tonight at the barn. It was Moe myself and Jeff Seifert (sp?) for total points. I had a bit a of personel accomplishment this evening. Moe got a bit squirrely down the first straight and somehow I beat him in the second moto for the 1st. Of course in the third moto he made up for the second and charged hard. It was fun running out front for once... Hope to see you there racing again tomorrow, c ya!

Good Pauli, Moe's a toughy to beat. Good job.

Pauli, see if Mike has a rim/wheel box (possibly) if you would be so kind. I might run over to your house before you go to the barn todayand give you the rear wheel and Mike can spin off that freewheel too... cool? I can't go today, F-1 finally is on at 11am..... I CANNOT miss this... smile.gif GO Kimi/Ferrari!!!

It's is "all about the fun" , and it's really fun being out front, right pauli. biggrin.gif After a couple more rides, u will know all about it wendt. HA HA HA HA HA

Hey, don't you have some wounds to lick Wendt? : P

Jay, did you ever get that YESS chain tensioner dialed in? I spoke with Jayson Lindsay today at rehbeins and he said he has never heard anyone have an issue. He said he would definetly take a look at it if you want.

Brad, spoke with Mike at Mikes Bike's and he didn't have any wheel boxes, sorry.

We had a fun day of racing with Me, Moe, Russ & Don Palmer. Keith Christianson showed but he was to late to register. Russ qualified in the first, Moe in the second and me in the third. Russ was powerful being that he is a hack and all (ha ha Bruce). Russ earned the main and did really well.

I acquired some clip shoes to try out and it was pretty interesting. Moe let me take his bike around the track a couple times to try em out. I must say they are pretty interesting. I can clearly see how they are more effecient with the upstroke, foot placement on the pedal and the rigid sole to apply the powah. I think I am going to play with these a bit to see if it is a good fit for me. It definetly has peaked my curiosity. One last thing is I did in fact eat it with clips on. I was pretty much sitting there standing still talking to Moe and over I went in the staging, pretty funny...

Clips are no doubt faster. I'm just not sure about when I fall off the bike, then again, I wouldn't try the crap I do if I were clipped in...

Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) won the F-1 drivers Title today.... So my afternoon was awesome... What a race!!!!
scott Boecker
pauli, I would wait a little longer before you jump on the clips train, trust me, you will thank me later.

Brad, How r the wheel set looking ??? I hope your not stripping them.

I understand, trust me it will be an extremely slow progression IF I go that way at all...

hey guys - about chucking trophys

have you checked with your local tracks? if they are in good shape (something you or your kid would feel good about receiving) they might be able to retag and reuse them. new trophys all seem to look alike so people often like receiving the funky old ones. it might be different with tracks in your neck of the woods but they might just appreciate it and it will save them a chunk of change.

Great point, I just donated back to Rehbeins 8 trophies that I received last year. Think about revenue the track can recapture based on the entry fee's they charge.

8 x $16 = $128

So thats $128 back in to rehbeins that I was happy to give back.

For you non-mensa guys lets not hurt yourself over this formula/scenario.

Cool Mark, I'll be there this weekend myself. I gotz nothing going on. YEAH!!!

Pauli, are you going to the barn Tuesday??? If so, I'm going too. I gotta get a freewheel spun off some rims I sold...

I knew this was going to grab your attention Pauli. I bought the red Intense from Mikes' Bikes. We stripped the GHP and assembled the Intense all after practice a week ago last Friday.
