Sweet Tahoe, Boecks! I'll meet you at St. Pats after school and we'll see how she jumps.

Tahoe was born just after graphite Tuffs were cool. Plus, I truly can't remember anyone racing a Tahoe with Tuffs. So I say laced wheels. And while KOP built a stunner (or his favorite color is blue), I think you gotta back off on the color and stick with mostly black components.

If you're trying to keep it period correct for when you rode one, then chrome baby, chrome. I'm 99% sure there were no other color options until after Jack sold. And by that time you'd moved on to greener pastures with GHP...

And just to be the complete dissenter here...NO HOT PLATE. Gotta go Haro, the solid-color style with the diagonal vents on the upper corners.

And finally...consider putting on Stadium tires as homage to the fine tradition of indoor racing here in the land of sky blue (watch it, KOP!) water.
Guest200901
Well I say pizz on era correct. Put some Graphites on a Tahoe. black Stadium Tires and a Haro plate and make it a tribute to Minnesota
scott Boecker
Thanks 4 all your in put everyone.

frame and fork - will stay chrome, keeping it with the correct period.

wheels - Blk Tuffs , it would be nice to get some COOL CAPS for them, but there
just as hard to get as a Tahoe f/f.

the other components will be black with a little blue.

and lastly Stadium tires for the 2010 CONDO CLASSIC at the X-CEL center.

I say.. Let the f/f sit out in the rain/snow for a couple of nights to get the rust started in the gusset welds, slap the biotch together with 1 piece cranks and laced wheels. Use a car license plate on the handle bars for your number plate. (Thats the way DC would do it!) Put reflectors in the spokes and Rad Caps on your air valves.. Done deal...Era correct... good2.gif
Guest200901
Ok, I have the Takagi(sp) spider and blue chain wheel for the 1 piece cranks as well. AND I'll grab DC's license plate when we get back from the Grands

I agree w/ John, keep it chrome. Is the chrome good? Looks alright.

I'd go black/polished components too, maybe with dashes of blue. Blue brakes, pedals, seat clamp (Blue/green spoke nips if you lace wheels) and the rest chrome/black parts. You'll need some color to go with the decals or they won't pop.

Because that's were Jack Dogherty was from. That's were Team Tremco began, Rondo and the Tahoe... Also home of Midwest bmx...

That 2z plate has class for some reason!

We can always repoop a Haro plate, or was this a DC HotPlate?

Looks like a Hot plate. I do remember lots of people ripping off the Haro oval portion and sticking numbers on the bare plastic. Most of the time those Haro panels ripped off if you were to change numbers or decals.

The problem with making a NS Haro style plate is the size will have to be brought down allot because of the low rise bars today. I have Bailey mini plate on my 20" and it fits about right.

Hi Dave,

Its nice to see you back racing again... I remember when you came to Rhode Island I believe it was either 1980 or '81 and raced at our NEBA Ocean State Classic... Most everybody that was following the War Of The Stars series those two summers came thru RI and race our big race.

My buddy from BITD has a bunch of pictures of you from that race.

Hey Tommy tongue.gif I mean Mark...

I thought I did a state plate for you guys... I'm thinking maybe somewhere between '84-'86...

I am going to my moms house tomorrow for a brunch and I'll check my Crit Plate inventory I have in stock and see.

And to answer your PM question about if I am thinking about bringing back Crit Reversible Plates again, Yes, It is already in the works and as soon as I have a website up in running and become a Vintage site supporter I will let everybody know.

Also, It was kinda interesting to recently read a press release from the new owners of UGP saying for '09 they are going to introduce the sports first ever reversible number plate... Funny thing... I was making the BMX's first ever reversible number plate back in 1981. sun_bespectacled.gif

So are you remaking Old styles? or going new school?

84-86, would have been after me, Scott B or Sheely would know what was around at that time I'm sure

I will have a section on my site to purchase original stock from every model year dating back to as early as 1981 thru 1994 along with State and National plates dating back to 1984. And of course old school meets new school versions of Crit Reversible Number Plates.

MC- those were the point standings for the season end of 1982.. For DC's AA standings, the GN in front of the first eight riders I believe stands for the way they finished at the Grand Nationals that year, and that is how they ended up for the 82' season.. Way to go DC........ :good2:
B. Apold
I noticed Butterfield in MN2, is that because his address was at Marvin's???

I finished #13 MN2 1982, so based on that info, I think that's year end results or close.

Rick, you have the 83 year end don't you??? post those if you do.

What a perfect way to remember names. Man I forgot so many names its just insane!

Jeff...I completely apologize for this...but I forgot that you won #1 (I thought it was Josh Ralph). Congratulations!

I don't remember you racing w/#1?

Weird though, because I distinctly remember Kragness running #7, and sort of remember Ted Carl w/8, but not Ted Richards w/#1.

Of course, my mind has been fuzzy ever since I drank a case of Rondo and lost a bet to DC that you can't light farts in 1981...

Boecker: How about Gary nailing #35!?! And is that "our" Mike Anderson in #20? I don't remember Mike racing much after 1980.

Troy Kane #56,, he was from Owatonna, and a I remember he was all into the Tahoe thing.. 272 racers in that district.. That's pretty good...

What year did the younger kid from Rochester get MN2 #1 81?? Was it Traci Schmidt, team Tremco?? I remember him getting #1 and then he was gone-gone!

MN 02 #126 for me. It was my first year and I raced a whole 2 times at the legendary Moose Jaw BMX.

I didn't realize Dave C. raced prior to the fall of 2007. Looks like he used to be pretty fast.

Awesome photo's, I wish I had more to share.

The Summer of 1982 is when I moved to Pennsylvania and went NBL. It is very cool seeing all the names from the past. I sure wish you could turn back the clock to simpler times when all you worried about was where you were going to ride that day.

I miss the days of bunnyhopping in the driveway all afternoon, looking for new broom handles, tomoato sticks, yard sticks to replace the broken ones. Life was good! I couldn't believe my sisters timing with my grandpa's polaroid camera.

Here is another from around 79 or 80 at Brooklyn Park. If I remember correctly I think Jeff Tolefson is in second place (?) I believe I had just switched over from my Red Line ProLine to my new GT from BJ's Bike & Ski. I was racing for Casey Jones Bike Shop down in Wayzata Bay Center. I wish I still had that HARO plate and that Bell Moto III.

I guess you could say I quit..Kinda..Burnt out and banged up was the deal.

I don't think Sandberg remembers this but, he called me quite a few time the summer of 83' to come out and challenge this new "Hotshoe" named Rob Butternuts, or something like that. So, to humor him I showed up at one of my favorite tracks (Richfield) one weekend to race..It was a blast!! good2.gif
