I wished I lived closer to that place so I could hit it up.. That place sure keeps BMX alive in the winter. Is Joey the Bomb still around?
Paul Springer
Fun night with a decent turn out. The new track layout is very fast and fun, not super technical but nicely done.

Old school turn out was Boecker, Moe, Sheely & myself. It is going to be a fun indoor season with a lot of action.

Track changes: The whole thing was butchered and all the dirt was tilled outside of concession corner and parts of berm #1. First straight rolls to a low table about 5 feet across then to a spaced out tall triple into a much bigger, steeper #1 berm. Coming out of berm #1 there is a long flat section that takes you to a quad step up then step down, then there is a small 4 foot gap jump before concession corner. The rythm section is like glass, perfectly 15 foot gapped whoops. Cutting over to berm #1 backwards that now has a great transition for both directions.

Big props to Doug and his crew!!!

Barn™ O.S. Race Update for Sat. 10/4. Total points Lance/Moe/d.c. Lance 1-1-3, Moe 2-2-2, and d.c. 3-3-1. In my opinion, the track is faster and flows smoother, I like it. We will have some fun indoors this winter! Rachel took her 1st spin on a BMX track today ~ Life is good!

King of Pipeline
Sounds like the barn was a good time. Racing indoors always has a different feel to it. We got out here in Waseca. Even found a huge dirt jumping area at our fairgrounds. I'll get some pics of that today.. My flatland skills were in effect.

Wow, that is awesome! I am so psyched for Rachel, I am sorry I missed her maiden voyage. I would have loved to have seen the big smile on proud poppa's face. Grinning so hard your ears touched in back... Good stuff Dave! Hope to see you the DC crew rollin Rehbeins soon.
King of Pipeline
Well, When I ride a 20 now a days, it sure feels like a pit bike.. Can't believe I used to fit on these things. But they are still fun once and awhile.. But it sure don't take long to want the cruiser back.
Rod B
Pipe,
that must have hurt. Did you get all scratched up?

Another entertaining read from Lance White's BLOG on Sponsorhouse:

Rum River/ Rehbeins opener
Hell Yeah! These late season double headers are my favorite time of the year to race. Rum river on Saturday afternoon, then a short drive to Lino Lakes for the "barn" The weather is perfect for it. Sometimes it's tough to find the motivation to go after a busy summer but it's always worth it. Especially this weekend. I have conquered the mountain! Hell, I might as well retire now. I beat Jeff Moe this weekend! Him and Dave Christensen at Rehbeins. The new track is pretty cool, faster. It was a total pts extravaganza. Came down to the last moto and thanks to Dave's skillz at holding off the "flyin LO" I clinched it with 5 pts. (1st, 1st, 3rd) Moe had three 2nd's, Dave got 3rd, 3rd, and 1st. Several people told me once again that us old guys put on the race of the night, and I would agree. Sorry folks, didn't get this one on tape, but it was intense. After the race, I saw FIRE in the eyes of Jeff and Dave, I'm guessing they wanna race again.
However, Aaron Zdon is still on the list after another great start at Rum River. (beat him in the 1st round qualifier, which does'nt really count, does it?) 2nd place for me. Can't really tell you much more about this race, other than the fact that it was the first time in my life that I beat Moe. He got 3rd. See ya next weekend.

Anyone racing tomorrow??? I'm racing at Rehbein's (20"), but not the Isanti event. Can't wait to ride the new track. I hope Mike's is open, I need to buy a 43t or something easier than this 45-16. Its just not Rehbein's worthy. C-ya around 4-ish!
Guest200901
I'm at Isanti early on to shoot a team vid and for the races.

No Barn for me though. The second weekend of October every year is when we change batteries in the smoke detectors and flash lites in the house. Sorry. Good luck though!

I seen that guy jump the old triple backwards from a dead stop- starting from the top of the first berm, so it doesn't surprise me.

My memory is something that still works. LMAO. I think you came over and stayed with Rob Tracy during the weekend (no racing) and we went riding around and just having fun... to much! I think Rob and I agreed to ride half way to AL with you, and the next Morning the winds were like 40mph and we were cruize'n with you, then of course we had to turn around and ride directly into this 40mph and it took 3 days I swear.

Cowboy hat, yes that was Sean..... I think we can come up with plenty-o-stories. I wish Shan and John T. would find this site.
King of Pipeline
In Waseca here, some kids build a bunch of dirt jumps at our fairgrouds. Some of us here went out and enjoyed them.. Hope they stay up for awhile.. BMX still alive..

It looks like the Disney Cup will be broadcast on Go211.com this coming weekend!

Brad, Ya I do remember riding all the way to Austin from Albert Lea and meeting up with you guys a few times. Those were the days! It is great to hear all you boys still enjoy riding. My first son raced from 2 years old to 8 years old. For a bike shop team Called Challenge Racing here in Ca. from what I understand they are a national team now. Both my boys and daughter ride Motorcycles. Not competition. Single track in the mountains in Ca. How about you? what are you doing these days?

First off, that picture of Miland and Rex off the gate is the best photo I've see yet. Man that is cool!!!!!
#15 isn't Shan Lynde though.... Who's running the gate?? (trivia)

Sean B, we rode that journey a few times huh? Back in 91, I rode my MTB from Austin to Fountain lake 3-4 times a week for cardio purposes. It was easy after the first 3 times, best tan of my life, LMAO!
rick kast
sean,
i was from sparta then as now. with nothing around here i always was in SW mn.
as for who was running the gate, i would guess rex's dad as he built it.
variable cam timing. i loved it. the gate jumpers, not so much. lol.
in that pic 264 is from sparta, 129 is fritzmeier. i must not have raced open that day.

I suppose that was pretty easy. Rex's Dad was so cool and supportive. Rex had a sister, Lisa maybe? She seemed to be at every race anyway... She was cool.
Rydjors Dark Sider Black Sheep 1%'r
Yes thats me(2) in the Gamehaven photo...but no, Rex isnt in it. The guy in the red and white is Jeff Ringenberg- I dont think its open because I never raced open class. open paid no points after all. Biggs are you sure thats you in the cowboy hat? In my mind I always thought the "hat man" was Johnny Tribbet.
well in this Rydjor team shot, John DOES have the hat on...hmmm puzzled.
rick kast
yep, ringenberg it is.
that must have been early 83, and judging by the jackets, probably.
i probably won my last race as novice that day or close to it, and turned ex.
rex's sister even raced a few times to make a puff class.
Paul Springer
Wow, those are some super cool pictures. Pretty sweet shot of Conley & that one of people racing just out of the gate is what it is ALL about...

Believe it or not I just got done playing golf with Doug "The Hammer" Carlson. What a gas he is to hang with... He almost fell in the pond going after a water ball reaching BIG.

King of Pipeline
I was watching some old DVD"s tonight.. boom, there's Sheely at Richfield... He got a bad start and kicked in the first corner...

Watch it again there homey, you might come across a Jeff Manning (maybe you've heard of him) tongue.gif

Good showing of Mr Sheely also though.
King of Pipeline
check out Tim Judge right next to him.. That would make me pretty nervous. I know Manning got second. It's wierd how small the jumps are on the track. Like the triples,, Half the guys almost clear them just by speed jumping them..
