Corner of Broadway and College in Albert Lea.....Spent a few pennies there as a kid....

Been reading this thread for a while with interest, many neat old pics that have been fun to look back on. I came into BMX in it's latter days. Was (and am biggrin.gif) a few years younger than you guys. Guys I know are Craig Anderson, Grant Neilsen, Jeff Weberg(have not talked to him in 20+ years) All about ten years older than I.

Thought I just hit big, but was out bid on Mini. Tried to up the bid with 3 sec. left but missed it. Was buying it for my 1 year old daughter. Have a 90's mini ripper(frame, LG forks, neck and bars) in the garage that I will build for her. The rest I will buy new from here and there.

Just had to let you guys know I have been lurking.

Guest200901
What is this 'California Connection' you speak of? cool.gif

Welcome Skogy! But, cough up a name here... 10 years younger then most...would be 15 years younger then me....David Karrow?(sp) Spears? (Brad would chit his drawers if it was) Huh???

We need to get WEEEBS on here! Skogy, talk to us So. MN BMX'ers here...

KOP, you must know who this is?

MANNING!!!!!!!

King of Pipeline
Never heard of him.. Where did you race? What years? You from Albert Lea...... Grant Neilson, man, that dude was a big guy, and goofy... funny...Jeff Weberg, serious, cool and I got to hang with him a bit about 1986. I remember he even came to Waseca to ride one day. I remember he had a chrome bike with black tuffs..
Skogy
Nope not one of the big name guys...Name is Chris Skogheim, from Albert Lea (some thought my last name was Hutchins back then, due to step-dads last name). Only tracks I raced were AL and Riverside probably 84-86, when I was 11-13 maybe a year or two before that even. My first race was at the Riverside Arena on some tank of a Huffy. Rode a track in Dawn Acres sub-divsion right by Weberg's house from sun-up to sundown most days as a kid. Screwed around on Weberg's half-pipe a few times. Mostly just rode around AL looking for a pile of dirt to jump.

Have not rode a bike in 15 yrs. On July 4 '93 I dove into a shallow pool and broke my neck and am paralyzed, shizzle happens. mellow.gif

I have been thinking of calling Weberg a see if he has any old pics from back then, he seemed to have a camera around alot. I remember that and the number of pretty cool bikes he had ove the years. For sure I remember the Quad-Angle, Robinson, and a Maximum. Seems to me he also had a Tahoe, but I am not positive on that.

I remember the day he got them, he was pumped, we were waiting in his front yard for the UPS guy.

How was Grant a "big" guy? Tall yes, big guy no! But he was a funny kid.

I miss those old Albert Lea days. I use to ride over with Dan (God Bless him) in the Rydjor van for the day and hang with the AL boys and if anyone has ever been to AL, you know riding from one end of AL to Hutch's service is one long haul. Many good times indeed!

Weebs and Craig always had the new cool toys before anyone. Craig had one of the first bmx bikes known to me that went over the 1k cost. JMC F/F, graphites, Flights, titron pedals, you name it.. Cool stuff. Out of anyone that still has a survivor bike, its gotta me Craig or Weebs.

Who is racing at Rum River tomorrow?
Paul Springer
What an awesome day out at Isanti, the weather was perfect and the turnout was BIG. This is one of my favorite races of the year, primarily because the of the tots race (big wheels & training wheels). Mark actually saved a kid that blew thru the finish line and was headed for disaster. Mark grabbed him before he went down and sacrificed himself doing a barrel roll while holding the kid in one hand and his camera in the other, most impressive Condo!

I think there were 37 moto's + Pit Bike + Tot's + Parents Races + Pro-Am. I know Mark took a boat load of photo's that should be up later at www.alltheracing.com later. In the old man class it was Jeff Moe, Rod Byrnes and myself and that is the way we finished.

Rehbeins opens October 3rd!
Guest200901
Yes it ws a great time at Rum River!

Moe was towing the boys around all day

Springer and BreakCheck

Yes these Tots are worth coming and watching each year! They are so into it!

Of course when they get tropies that are bigger then they are, that makes it all the more exciting!

ATR's newest lady racer...MaMa Juvland

This photo is a guy from Waseca. One day we were all riding our jump by our house 1983. This dude was a few years older than us, so we never really seen him. But we heard about him. All a sudden he shows up. We had this jump build out of wood and it was about 3 feet high. He comes down, and hits the jump only once. He got about 7 feet of air and did a tabletop. There was no landing on this jump. He totally wipes out, but I snapped this photo. I'm still amazed by that one jump..
Paul Springer
Great photo's Mark, what a fun day!

It's a organization to help Brad raise money to buy a jersey and send him to the Grands

Actually, MBF information is going to be released in the near future

Don't let the rain slow you from riding. Count me in.

I was just cleaning out the back room and found this gem. The complete book is intact and you can learn to do curb endos and rock-walks in 3 simple steps.

Any takers? Best offer gets it.

Ya know I always liked riding MTB in the rain, but the Elk River MTB club won't allow you to even ride out there if its wet, let alone raining and we've got allot of rain this week. I suppose I'll dust off the GT tonight. I haven't riden in 2 months. LMAO! sarcastic_hand.gif
