If I can remember correctly it went Sandberg, Apold, Christensen. I was pretty light headed looking for oxygen after my Pit Bike Main.

I had fun last night, however it got a bit confusing after the "motos".

I thought there was 3 motos for the 2 groups taking 2-2-2 ( so did Rixen's Daddy) so then I thought the "main" was a semi final. Of course John "holeshot" Sandberg had the inside line as we were side by side and I let him have the line and followed him (no sense in crashing anyone) around thinking they were taking 4 from our group, only to find out it was the main....
What really goofed me up, I thought it was a "half track" race, I was coasting over the manuals thinking they were taking 4, then I saw John doing another lap, at that point I thought, "oh know, is this a main?", then there's ol'Mac-Daddy-Russ coming around the berm the wrong direction...LMAO.. At that point I gave up. It was amussing to say the least...

Great start John!!! Those lights made it a fare starting grid for everyone. I do like the air shot of the "main".... cool!!

Why oh why didn't DUG use the UCI lights all night?

Awesome event, great people and great fun. Thanks to Mark for making it happen and to the Rehbeins crew for providing the opportunity. As always, it makes my day...hell, it makes my week/month to see everyone at the track.

Russ, it was great to meet you. You and Nancy are in my prayers.

Hey JT, how are you?

WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
As always, Friday night's gathering was awesome. It was great to see so many people come out and help some really good people (Russ & Nancy).

JT - I hope you don't have any serious injuries. Get well soon.

Guest200901
A Message From Russ Newcomb - Nancy and I would like to send out a big heartfelt thank you to everybody that gave of their time and or money to help out in her fight against cancer. I emailed everybody that gave on the ATR site but some emails would not go through for some reason. I hope everybody that reads this knows how much we thank you.

This one goes out to all the people that give of there time at the barn. We thank you, to everybody that came out on the 4th to show support and to take part in the racing and other things, we thank you. As most of you know I did most of my racing in the great states of Colorado and Utah. I’m still getting to know most of the Minnesota riders and finding out how cool all of you are. I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you as time goes by. Summer is just about here so let’s all have a fun and a safe racing season.

Thanks again ...Russ and Nancy

P.S. JT I hope you are ok. That was a bad fall.
B. Apold
Well said Mr Mark, I wish the best for Nancy's speedy recovery...

I'm still grinning after racing against you guys, what a blast... It amazes me the talent that surrounds me. John, you should really consider racing again.... serious!
bnd
Good job Minnesota!

Guest200901
Couldn't have done it without you Aunt B! You are the one responsible for introducing us to Chatty Cathy you know...

After Russell had 1.25 beers at Springer's BIG after race gathering (party of 3), we did come up with BND needing to come out again to MN this summer so we can all hang with Mr. Utah again. Set it up a head of time so we can make some plans.

Thanks again Bruce for hooking us up with yet another great old schooler!
bnd
It's a darn good thing he stopped at 1.25 beers because after 2 he turns into this guy & likes to prove to you he can bench press parked cars!

I've got a busy summer, we will see about a visit.

Paul Springer
Major chuckles, you guys are nutty!

Fun day of racing yesterday, ATR did well considering we filled 41-45 Cruiser (lol)...

Russ Newcomb (Q 1st) 3rd in the main
Dave Christenson (Q 2nd) 1st in the main
Jeff Moe (Q 3rd) 2nd in the main
Paul Springer (DNQ)

It was amazing watching these guys, it was like a run away freight train flying fast just inches away in a straight line. I can't imagine Utah has anything quite like this, I think it is time for a road trip! worried_anim.gif

Jeff Manning
Friday was awesome as always.

Great to see all you O'schoolers. I'll never get sick of it.
I have to admit, with alot of you guys returning to the track after all these years and everyone still has what it takes to rub elbows, it makes for some really good/great race action. This summer should be a blast!!

JT- I hope your doing OK. I didn't see the crash, but I definately heard it. I saw the aftermath of what was left of your helmet..NASTY Get well soon!
mikkopeters
Looks like a nice turnout for a great cause.

Manning, what up?
Sorry to hear about JT- get well soon.

I just got back from the doctor again, this time a specialist... wow...... All I know is I have to go back again, and get a MRI done... But with the $1,800.00 price tag for that, i'm waiting to see how much insurance will pick up..

This mysterious bump is costing me.. an arm and a leg....

If I do the math right, once you give them the leg, your problem is solved. unsure.gif Good luck. I hope you get this worked out.

Those are some great pics there. I'll tell you one thing, I was out riding the other day, and it didn't bother me at all.. It's just when I bend and sit for awhile it hurts.

No way i'm I going to let it effect me too much. I want to race again, and mostly jump. I still have my car jump set on the summer schedule. I'm going to build a little wooden wedge ramp a couple feet high, and jump over my car.. I'm working out the details, with ESPN now...

But, this recent activity dosen't help the finances.. looks like i'm working for free for another few months...

Here's a shot from saturday, riding my old GT mountain bike from the 80's

I think to really succeed in todays national bmx, you have to be a great jumper. You can create big gaps quickly by doing it.. Those are great shots. Those guys are really fast to I bet.

I was looking through an old BMX Action magazine, and this guy wrote in from Minnesota about jumping cars... Anybody heard of him?

Right... Try 9 second rotary/turbo daily driver baby!, of course we swapped out the oem 3TC 4 banger.. You know the little triangle that spins around the inside of a peanut shaped housing and makes more HP than anything per/ci. tongue.gif Those stock 3TC's can run high 7's with stock internals...Its insane!! Were talking .80comp/1.25turbine wheels though

I actually own a 72 Toyota Corolla that's basically the same car. 510 looks a little cooler though...IMO

This is getting a little off the topic of BMX, but my dreams of a '65 Impala has been replaced by this:

My high school car was this beauty, 1975 AMC Pacer X (3 speed manual).

Guest200901
I found Milands ride. I see him cruising around Spamtown daily in it. (I'm pretty sure that is a pic of DC's phat arse in the side window)

Ted Carl
Well, my high school car couldn't do 7 second quarter mile times like Bradlys imaginary B510 POS could rolleyes.gif , but I'm pretty sure it would do better POSI burnouts....(No BS sissy azzzz bleach required! lol) tongue.gif

(an early break-in run, lol )

My neighbor was SOOOO pissed at the 2 black stripes, that he DEMANDED they pea gravel and re-surface the road/circle to cover them up.

.....It wasn't me man! I swear, it was some other guy with 10 inch wide tires and posi......Honest!.... laugh.gif

It may be off topic, but at least it's an era correct topic! cool.gif

Funny guy TC

TC, was Judas Priest cranked up during said burnout?
Shawn Sheely MN-1
Yea, that Granada had some strange noises - especially since the previous owner had wrapped it around an telephone pole. Although you couldn't get in the car from the passenger side (you could open from the inside) the doors opened wide and I could slip my bmx bike right in the back seat perfectly.

It dog-tracked something fierce as a result of the crash, so I would go yo the junk yard and pick up spare snow tires to carry in the trunk, as the right rear would go bald every 2500 miles.

I may have told this story before, but Pete Westlund, Nathan Benjamin, Bob Butterfield and I were on our way home from a race somewhere in that car - the guys were bouncing off the walls and I pulled the old "don't make me pull this car over" dad thing... so they finally pushed me to point where I pulled over.

It was on 494 right before 394 - I got out and started pulling Nathan's bike off the rack - as soon as I had it in my hands the car started moving forward. There I stand on the shoulder of 494 holding Nathan's bike while he had slid into the driver's seat and started driving away. The guys were peeing their pants they we laughing so hard. Not so easy managing the best team MN had to offer in '82. Butterfield, Benjamin, Westlund, Englby, Lembke, Vangan, this wasn't your typical MN team - but those guys had raw talent and the results to back it all up.

In 1982-83 they won 80% of team trophies in the Midwest - those were the days.

Yea, the spit fights in the back of the Now Sports van on the way to Mankato, Nathan loosening every bolt on my bike while so when I grabbed it, it disintegrated, Bob treating me to a Break and enter lunch at the Richards house - there was always a slightly dark side to the pranks the Now team would pull - with Nate and Bob usually instigating and tormenting everyone else on the team.

Good times.
Paul Springer
Funny stuff Shawn, we all have some kooky memories of those days.

What is everyone thinking for practicing & racing this weekend?

Step 1 seems to be missing, but I think it says "Move to the West coast and get on your bike every waking moment".

In my case, it was "have your Grandpa share a 6 pack of Bud with Gary Turner".

that's classic, would have loved to been a fly on the bleacher for that one.

Friday night at the BARN was a little slow , Jayson L and I were the only OSers there. WOW !!! I guess everyone is hurt or all done for the season. What happened 2 OS friday nights at the barn ??? I know KOP is still looking 4 a sponsor to get him to the track. Well I hope everyone heals up and I will see everyone 4 the outdoors racing, if it ever gets here. wacko.gif
Paul Springer
I took the night off and went out with my bride, Conley and his gal. Sorry I missed it, I hope to get to race at least one of the two days this weekend.

I dropped a note to Toni Cater checking in on Paul, here is what she said:

He is doing better everyday. He went back to work part time end of last week and started driving mid this week. I think we are over the worst of it. He hasn't been able to lay down yet, which is driving him crazy! But other than that he is off all pain meds, besides the ibuprofen, and I think things are coming along quite well. We might try and make it up this weekend so Brody can race (Megan reinjured her shoulder this week in gymnastics and may need surgery - UGH!) So maybe we'll see you! Thanks again for following up and keeping in touch, the thoughts and prayers are very appreciated.

Dear "I'm to busy to lurk and chime in",
I believe if you were to login a little more often you would have seen that it was a no show evening...cuz Kraker was cleaning the bathroom, Springer forgot he had a prior engagement with his new/old bridal love, Brad is on strike for some reason, DC is busy, Sandberg is on call as a fill in, KOP's knee has a HUGE AZZZ lump on it that no one wants to identify, MOE has a non-communicative process (that he goes through each week even though he logs in frequently) that none of us can figure out (and don't really need to cuz he is just a coool cat to hang with when available), Vik who can't seem to commit to jumping on a plane to MN each week to ride in the mold filled barn....COME ON VIK!

In the end this is just senseless dribble to do nothing but put you down and make you look like a woobie laugh.gif

and to to give a shameless plug towards your mad MCFREESTYLE.COM SKILLS once again!
