Were they 13/16 posts? I thought about taking that approach with my Schwinn, PEG ♥, but I ended up using a aluminum strip to shim the 7/8 seat guts. Maybe on the next one... wait, am I building another?

I'd just shim the seat clamp itself. You should only need 1-2mm shim max. ( ex: a dime is 1mm thick).

What are handle bar diameters (generally). I'd say thats bout it. If the clamp is a stem clamp it makes sense of the diameter. ya know?
mikkopeters
I had to shim both the clamp and the seat guts to use a standard BMX clamp and seat with the original Schwinn post- I was going to buy a fluted 13/16 post, but just painted the OG one instead. Maybe I'll upgrade down the road.

24's on the 24th again, right? I need to dust off the Hutch for its one year anniversary ride.
mikkopeters
That's right, it's your one year anniversary. smile.gif Hard to believe what can change in a year. When we met at the boathouse EVERYONE was stoked to see that Hutch. Who'da thought you'd be back in the thick of things, huh?

We'll get a big ol' spring ride going again- and who knows who'll turn up this time.

Riding your Red Line in the parking lot of that gas station on the way to the track in Rockford was one cool highlight for me last summer. Someday mine will be back in it's stock glory. smile.gif

That ride was allot of work on the 20" Ya won't be see'n that if i go this year. FMF baby or maybe the Ol' Dyno24! Didn't the Weather start off super nice and within 2 hours the temps dropped like a brick and it started raining (on you guys) like a cow p*ssing on a flat rock?
mikkopeters
We finished the ride in the pouring rain in the dark! We had 7 of us left if I remember right- Rodrico, Chris, Retro, Bill S, Steef Peter Q and me. Maybe there were more... we're going to have a St Paul ride this year 4 sure. Maybe ride from one city to the other.

After the ride me and Rod wrapped things up at the Frenchman. Youch.

I went and practiced tonight and it was kinda mild. Nobody that races in our age range was there. Moe's wife thought he may likely be there (?) I may only be able to practice before on Saturday, my wife wants me home for a gathering, we'll see. I believe DC is out for the weekend working out of town.

Gary, that is an awesome picture of you.

This man may be teaching classes soon also. One of the most famous racers to come out of MN.
old time
the best racer ive seen come out of minnesota is rob butterfield(curly mohawk). at a state quilfier in mankato there were these quads he comes around table tops the first one comes down table tops the second set , it was insane. One time at albertlea track they had these doubles that were about fifteen feet apart, they were almost impossible to jump because they were right after a corner. this guy gets major air and table tops over them, he might have been maybe one of five to do it and the only one to table them. They didnt have a class for him in makato, there were about 3 or four pros there to, like Troy lempke(was good but not even close to rob). I notice the name shaun sheely this guy was good to 1 cruiser 84, he might have been there to.

is there something going on saturday, kop and i may attend and id like to bring one of my bikes. there is a good fight against kimbo and tank aboot on show time

no these were farther apart it was like 85ish, i think they redid it. they were small thats why they also were hard to jump. love seeing those pics they bring back some great memories, can a person race in the winter and were and when. its funny but my friend kept all of his patterson jersey and pants he was way taller than me, they fit me perfect now. how do you down load pics on here, if i go sat. i bring alot of my pics. i posted more of my bikes on bmx museum, im old time. i just got my skyway in the mail and my bullseye hubs cant wait to get it together. albert lea had like a place next to the track you could ride you motocycle.

Can't help ya past 83, I was long gone from bmx after that year. I couldn't run fast enough to get away from it. Sold everything I had within 2 weeks of quiting (via Jay Wendt). It was weird not having a bike at all.
bnd
Good eye, yes that is a minigoose. I raced it once or twice before I bought a Patterson long frame & fork.
At 15 I was like 5ft' nothing. happy.gif

Before buying an Ames Stormer, Rydjor bike shop got a mingoose in (complete bike) and I put money down on the minigoose and the owner said he had something coming in I'd like better... anyway, those minigoose's are cool bikes. You look to big for it in that photo. I was 5' 1" until 16, then as a Senior (when I got my license) I was 5' 3" per my ID, and I grew 5" after I graduated.
