Rehbeins was fun tonight, kind of a mild turn out for the last practice night before a national. My daughter Maddi is starting to get interested in BMX again so I am psyched. Ribs are still aching a bunch but I can't sit still. Good luck to the Oklahoma bound BMX'rs. Don't forget www.go211.com will webcast the racing Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Is the rib problem from your practice crash? I just read that Lance crashed his mountain bike on Monday and separated his shoulder like you did.

Good luck to everyone going to Oklahoma this weekend. I'll be watching the racing on the web.

It's great to hear that Maddi's interest is coming back. I am still working on Jack. He loved practice last Saturday and if that's any indication he should be joining me in the future.

Go luck to all the Mn racers this weekend!

Ya, hopefully Hannah will start riding again too. She's trying to get her black belt and its taking up allot of time.

It's fun having the kids involved. My niece and nephew can't get enough BMX. I think they have been racing every weekend so far this year.

After my daughter's basketball is done, she wants to try racing too. It will be a fun summer hanging out at the track with everyone.

I hit Brian "Side Slipper" Malarski as I tried a hi-low in the first berm during practice. He went down and I hit him. Of course I took another shot to the ribs. Brian is the same dude that went down in the Condo Classic main in to the first berm.

I hope Maddi's interest last's, she really looks like she is enjoying herself. I think if Hannah & Sidney start riding more seriously we can have them feed off of each other and we will be set. If things continue I am going to get Maddi a new bike. That Intense that Brad picked up for Hannah looks perfect, definetly the most bang for the buck!

Hannah should improve once we get the new bike. The only thing I don't like about the "pro" bikes is the 175mm cranks they ALL come with. There just to long for a 5ft 2" gal. Its not BAD bad, but 170's would be best. The bike has 44-16 on it so that will help the spinning issue and slow the revs down, so the 175's might not be that bad. IMO, 44-16 is hard gearing, but they say girls pedal harder gearing than boys... I suppose to each there own.
Anyway, the Intense alloy "sabot" is the best 08 bike for the money I found. If it wasn't for the free shipping I would have spent the extra 35.00 and bought an FMF20pro. There real light like my FMF24.

Happy Birthday DC! I didn't have time to bake a cake, bit I pulled one out of the freezer from a past celebration!

Paul Springer
Is it really his birthday? Any chance he turned 46 so that fast old man will be out of my class?

Happy Birthday DC... Good luck and be safe down down in Oklahoma!
Guest200901
The more I think about it, I think DC is lying to Vintage, I thought his B-day was June or July. Hmmmm.... If that the case, that cake is going back in the freezer
Viktor
Put the cake away. DC's birthday is June 28. cool.gif
I arrived in OK last night. DC and crew were still on the road when I arrived, should see them this morning. It's COLD in OK. It will be 79 in San Antonio this weekend and right now it's about 11 degrees here. So much for DC getting away from the cold.

Updates to come...
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
Looking forward to your updates. Remember to wave when you're on the gate so we can see who you are on the webcast. Good luck this weekend.

Yes he does, I just saw him take the "W". Nice racing Cal.

He's got the best teacher in the entire planet. Go DC and little DC! I heard the announcer mention "the return of DC" today. Not sure if it was exactly like that, but something regarding his return.

How bout that Denzel A-pro guy... Look out AA pro's. He's gonna be the next man. I like David Herman's style too. He's another AA pro that kicks but.

So who else did what? Rixen? His class has to be REAL tough.

Just got an update on the results from Guthrie. There was a mistake in scoring on Sunday and Minnesota's own Action Graphics team gets the overall win in Team Trophy. Congrats to the following riders:

Ashlynn Strandberg 6 girls
Caity Wilson 13 girls
Nate Walton 13 Expert
Nate Wielkiewicz 14 Expert
Devan Bracht 15 Inter/Open
Mitch Johnson 16 Expert/Cruiser

Now, if we can just arrange a buyout on that Cal dude's contract, we'd have a powerhouse.

Seriously, it was a blast having so many Barn regulars on site. We are definitely on the radar.

Thanks everyone for the support! What a weekend in Guthrie, OK at the Sooner Nags. Well we did what we set out to accomplish, get Cal in a Nag. at the Nov. level to get a taste of the hardware. Some 29 years ago in 1979 my parents took me to St. Louis, MO NBL Schwinn™/Midwest Championships Nag. I won 1st in the 15 Novice. The trophy I won was the largest I won and the one I have the fondest memories as it is displayed on my everyday work desk. From their I was hooked. Well truly Mark Conley and his crazy uncle got me hooked on a year long trip to the Mongoose® Grand’s in CA one weekend. I have photos to reflect and juggle a little of Conley’s memory board!

I have to tell you after my last Nag. at the worlds in Jan. 1984 Las Vegas I made the decision after countless injuries etc. (You can only rebuild the knee so many times) to go to collage. Here again innocent d.c. as M.C. was instrumental in showing me the whiskey. Mark made a few visits to the porcelain god too! So as I was saying, just being at the Nag. under the roof, at the arena indoor, was awesome. You could feel all the emotions and wow the memories…… It truly was awesome to be there ~ “A blast from the past”! For me I couldn’t have thought 20+ years later I would be watching my son cross the finish line. Almost crashing Sunday in front over the step-up. Now I know what my parents went through during 100’s of races! Paul, you said it best “THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT” that photo is great having fun with the family.

Thanks again all for support and the Team ATR/Mike’s Bikes!!

Mark look what have you done????

The following photos depict the 12 hr ride home 1. One little BMX’r who had to sleep w/trophies all the way home 2. One tired ATR/Mike’s Bikes fan 3. One very proud Dad wheeling the crew north bound!

Cool picture. Makes me wanna race a national.

Did you guys gear up more vs barn? I would imagine a little. This track showed the most pedaling I've seen in modern tracks in sometime. Good to see, which is why I asked the gearing question.

Dave C. just came back into racing recently right?? IF so, that is cool..

David-

That story and those pix truly brought a tear of happiness to me. Thanks a million for sharing.

And congratulations on weekend. Your mom has to be SO proud...of so many things. Seeing it all come full circle... reliving the same emotions she surely felt nearly 30 years ago...knowing that you're giving the same opportunities and experiences to your kids.

I'm so proud of Cal.

And I'm proud of you, G-Ray and all the parents/people/sponsors who make it possible for their kids and others' kids to experience something as great and powerful as BMX. As you all know, experiences like that can positively shape a person's entire life.

Most sincerely,
John

Today is going to be the my first day of riding since, the Condo... I hit my knee on my handlebars at that event.. I still can't bend my leg without it hurting and there is a big bump on my knee still... Not sure if I should get it looked at or what... How long does it take for a knee,, or broken knee to heal?

I'm going to Faribault to ride they're skatepark in a few hours. So i'm stoked, and I hope not to come back more injured...
Paul Springer
DC, those pictures are priceless. I can see your wife just shaking her head watching you turn back into a kid again. Thank you for sharing the family pics, they really do bring a tear to the eye. Sorry, sounds like Sandbox and I are criers...
