It's killing me not being able to race in that 41-45 class. That is the class to be in for the old guys right now. The competition is great and the rider turnout is good. I wish the 36-40 group would have a better turnout.
Good luck at the Oklahoma national. DC, since this will be your first national in many years, I can't wait to hear your perspective. I was blown away when I went to Rockford last year.

Gosh I don't know, I've been racing the same group of guys (40 and over) everytime I race (for the most part). When I did the Elk River Tour last year it was ALL 24's in a class, 14x to Moe.... An interesting first corner forsure. I think I'll miss that ER track. It was fun.
Don't worry Chuck, you'll get there. The last two years flew by.

Yup, I remember that day Jeff... Was is 79 or 80? If 80, It would have been the year we used the starting gate from the Austin Indoor. We moved the starting gate further down too and after the first straight it was a hard right hander with the big oak tree for an apex marker... LOL!!!! So was there a starting gate or rubber band? ssssssssnap!

If I remember, it was the first time John Palmershine and little Brother Palmershine came down for the day to race. John was a good shiot and a great rider. He must have been your age wasn't he??

I know. I don't want to wish away another year at this age, but all it takes is three guys 41 or older to show up and my class is really iffy.

The triples at the old Austin track, Riverside. I remember I could just the last 2 whoops no problem. Way too easy, but to jump all three I was always afraid. Not sure why. It wasn't that far....

Hey, Mr. Texas here. The weather has been bad in San Antonio so I haven't been racing, but I have been training. I'm going to the Sooner Nationals anyway. Not that I'll do any better than the Condo - I guess if I don't crash I'll be doing better!

Since my old friend DC is going to drive 700+ miles for the race I figured I could drive 500. It takes forever to get out of Texas.

Because you had to be full throttle to clear it. Whenever you need speed to clear something it puts a sense of fear in it. Its not like bunny hopping. You know what I'm saying.
Just another day during Summer break....

Based on the #28 plate, it was Summer of 82.
Ahhh, the golden days of my youth. Nothing better than crusing to the track at 8am and getting the blood flowing. I ran bleechers at 6am, ran home and ate BF and then head to the track for an hour or two....most days anyway. I was an early bird, unlike Miland, Boecker and Tribbett. Those last 2 Summers (82-83) were just the best of times. Austin was an awesome place to growup. I don't think its even close now. Mark, Sean?

I agree, that is a great shot of Troy. Troy had gobbs of low end grunt. He could get a crappy start and still motor his way to the front. Riding with him one Summer (81) was really great for me. He's hard to keep up with, granted I'm 3yrs younger, but he was still very much a machine.
I think there's a good pic of Sanberg too over the triples that you took too.. Its all good.

Conley could cruise over the Austin table top, turn the bars completly backwards and stick one foot way out there and only be 2 inches off the ground... Now that's some quick response riding there. How did you do that so quick? There's a picture on ATR that someone took way back when. Mark's the style god, not me.

Hey guys,
Thought I would give you fellas something to follow this weekend. Our big RFL indoor is tonight & not only is it expected to pull 70+ motos like last year, we were able to get a "26+ cruiser open" going. Pro's, ladies & AMs are jumping in & hopefully we will have 20+ riders singed up for it.
Sorry, no webcast for this event as Mr. Gallo is out of town. Here's the link.......................

28 riders in our 26+ open last night, 4 racks of 7, taking 2 per moto to an 8 man semi. I made it to my semi & actually was in 4th coming out of the first turn when I thought I had it in the bag & got worked by two racers.
T.P. Todd Parry at the ripe old age of 40 wins it with Jonas Harmon (29) takes 2nd. There's a full race report over in the race section.

We should be rolling through the 612 around 2pm with our sites set on a Kansas City layover. Let me know if anybody is on the same time line and we can maybe do a pit stop together for din din.
