This may be a stupid question....but I scored a black Tuff Neck (NOS) stem...but it looks a bit on the small side. How do I tell for certain if it is a mini stem or not??? Measurements?? It looks different every time I look at it or hold it up to another "non-mini" stem. I'm thinking of selling it, but I want to be sure of what it is.
Any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!

STamped or unstamped?
there were some china knock-offs made back then also, looked very close, but a little smaller.
this is on a non stamped.....

It is stamped with the Tiger logo (stem is Black.)
I got it along with a lavender Tioga freestyle stem and they look about the same size...but when I looked at some others that were on Ebay, it looks smaller than those. But in all honsety, I really don't have a size reference. I'll try to get pics of it to post. Would that help??

Not sure if this helps, but I have a tiger logo tuf neck on my zeronine freestyler. pretty sure it's the standard size...

if you have a smaller tuf neck it is most likely a tuf neck ace stem, there was a nos one just like the description of yours on ebay a few days ago with tuf neck ace printed on the packaging instruction insert. it's definately the real deal and not a knock off.

Thanks Pauly!!!! It looks just like that!!!! Mine also has a potts mod stem bolt...but the space between the bolt and the bolt on-top part of the stem is much smaller. There's almost no space on mine at all. I'll snap a pic tonight and post tomorrow. It's definitel the real deal. Just says "Tuff Neck" and has the tiger logo. I didn't even know they made mini stems until I saw one on a completed auction on Ebay.

yours is definitely smaller than the one in my pic. Note that yours has the cutout on the stem cap for the quill bolt.

Good question GT_Pro, I don't really know... it seems like just a smaller regular stem, as it is the same beefy construction as the regular and large tuf neck stems I have, just a much shorter reach. ...
What is the ACE model? Is it a mini stem? In comparison to my mini dk stem, the tuf neck is positively huge...

this may help a lil....pro neck is appro 50 mm across and the mini is 37 mm across...

the ACE was just a shorter reach version of the pro.

The regular Tuf Necks like this had ~44mm reach. How short is the ACE model ?

This square one also measures ~50mm wide.
I always thought that the Tuf Necks with the short reach were mini necks , obviously not from the picure on the page before , does anyone know roughly what year the ACE models were released or advertised for sale in BMXA ?
I'm currently doing a potts mod conversion myself , on a Tuf Neck, Pro Model , similar square design as above with the original prismatic Blue Tiger sticker on it.
I like Tuf Necks best when they have lots of sharp corners on them

My most accurrate measurement would put the "ace" stem, if that is what I have, at 35mm reach... and 50mm wide...Unfortunately, I have no idea about a time line for them..
