A full Robinson Pro Team sticker set for my '87 Robinson. These are the stickers that were on the bikes right after GT took over and Greg Hill joined the team.

BIG shout out to Ken Pliska for the chrome Mag Scrambler hookup. I can't wait to get it.

I got to looking through my box of parts for my build...I'm missing one more thing.

I need one of those generic Cobra prism decals every bike shop in the world had back in the 70s. I used one as a headtube decal on my bike after removing the Schwinn badge.

Oh, and still need those NOS black Perry Kramer signature Cal Lite stem and top tube pad.
LeadSled1
carlito, I have a Tange switchblade fork out in the garage somewhere. When found I will let you know. (My garage is a nightmare)
g-mack
Speaking of old Schwinn rides from bitd, been looking for a late '70s chrome Schwinn Scrambler Competition Model frame for a few years now.

Also NOS CW forks for a ZX in chrome...and Nomura repop headtube and seat tube decals.

Okay this leads to a question, I too have been searching for a red Johar Lite nylon frame pad.

Why does it seem there are million stem and handlebar cross pads (in both v and and straight) and virtually no frame pads in the sets???
ACGTO
I've been chasing a NOS blue UNI Hammerhead since day 1 and still can't find one. Also chasing SE brown or camo UNI seat covers and GT Uni Seat covers, especially a yellow one.

Chasing Profile Bars and more GT Bars as well.

I have a source with a box full of old california lite pads and I think I've seen most of what everyone's chasing. I'll check in with him monday and see what's there. I'll grab anything listed here if he has it.

My personal theory is that CW bars made a huge impact on them. You needed 2 frame pads when using CW bars.

My other theory is that stems and bars were changed frequently. Ie, an upgrade from a single clamp, to a double, to a pro-neck, and from V-bars to GT bars, so the shops ordered way more of them, and nobody changed thier frame pads very often.

Aside from that, as I see it, the mystery's truth remains inconclusive at best.

... and now we return to the scheduled programming...

PS, Quicksilver, I hope your not teasing me!...

Huh? Um, no you didnt. I rode Cdubs for all of 1984 and I used a single regular CW bar pad. A frame pad is too large a diameter and would spin and bounce around as you rode.
Ted Carl
Hmm, I never actually rode them. Now that you mention it, I certainly remember all the talk on them when they first came out though. Great bars, "But"...Plates that don't fit on them, bar pads were too small, but frame pads were too big.... ect..Certainly a lot of people tried frame pads before they could get ones that fit right. They probably started making special CW bar pads soon after they came out, but I wouldn't know, I just remember a lot of grumbling and shade tree fixes for pads and plates for them during 81-83ish....

There again, people changing to CW bars, and changing pads along with them, would make the stores order all of them, helping the other theory.

Store order list;
One of each color, single stem, double stem, and
pro neck stem pads. = 12 pads

One of each color, v-bar pad, straight bar, and CW bar pads. = 12 pads

One of each, Frame pads. = 4 pads.

Best I can do there.....Thanks for the memory jog PK....

Carry on...

Hmm I'd better make sure i'm not, is this what your after?

Alright you got me. I have been after a mini Hutch stem for YEARS. I have seen a few come and go but never come my way. The auction either closes early or goes for like $750. Not that I won't pay crazy money.... that is another thread isn't it...
frazer
After five years, I finally found the second of a pair of blue Diamond Back (IRC) tires. Found them one at a time, two years apart. Whew!
DY85262
Not sure how hard to find, Shadow Bull bars, Mid 80's These will compliment my race bike replica from BITD. Also Zap Pads Blue with white grid lines (not check). Good thread. Glad we are not alone.
mcam
We are never alone DY.... Never alone...LOL
the_wheelie_king
Woah! I had no idea this thread would work out this way. It's so cool that the VBMX community helps each other out like this. It would be great if some of us are able to source their grails through it.

ACGTO, if you find me me a frame pad through your source I'll weep with joy. As has already been mentioned, the most annoying thing about trying to find this godforsaken thing is having to trawl through the million bar and stem pads that are in the perfect colour, style, and everything. It's all so near yet so far.

Anyway, that's what it's all about, innit! If it was easy we'd have all got bored and wandered off ages ago...

Like the ones a former factory Uni rider would have in his attic Uni stash? I used two of my NOS 13/16 White Hammerheads on my kids bikes in 1995 & 1996. I bet if I look around the attic, there may be one more of those left. Not cheap (since it is from my past), but available.

ol'phart
okay my list is limited to items i have wanted for years and have yet to ever see made available (not stuff i didn't bid or got outbid on or stuff i'm hoping to score for less then going market - i don't mind paying for worthy items, but stuff i have yet to even see offered)

CAM plate in black w/red, white stars (about 3 yrs)
Haro series one in black w/white face (6 yrs)
JMC pit frame (just a frame - been waiting forever)
and
there was the Hare 2 trigger in black - but i finally scored one after 3 yrs of waiting, but now i can only hope i don't need to wait another 6 for the second......
oh and Cal Lite frame pads in black - though i did score 2 in the 7 yrs i've been at this (1 new and 1 used but decent) and man was that a struggle - they've always been difficult to aquire, even early on in the days of collecting
swbuf
I need a few fairly obscure parts-

1st year chrome (84) gt performer bars (2+ years)
24" yellow label comp 3's, comp 2's 20"
Cal lite frame pads (I see I'm not alone) black or PK in black
A decent set of 3 piece early/mid 80s pit bike cranks

I really surprised that the 'wanted' section doesn't yield more results.
unfitskip
Patterson long frame, I have nos fork.
I also have the frame pad problem,
HurricaneHenry
Almost forgot, and I challenge any of you to produce a pic of an original set:

Oops, sorry Brian, my memory aint what it used to be

I got beat on an auction for a set of front/rear lavender Odyssey brakes, which would be a major step towards recreating my old Trick Star. I think stevenbven or someone like that got 'em, it was someone I knew about through Vintage.

A lavender anodized freestyle Tuf-Neck. That's another ingredient.

ANd of course I'm always searching to see if the whole bike miraculously pops up there. If it's still intact, and it surfaces, it's mine. That's the ONE auction I'd go stupid on; because once I had that, I wouldn't need any other bikes---I'm done. I'd sell it all to get that bike back.
Ted Carl
Boy, I have to unload this before I forget.

I owe Quicksilver a HUGE THANK YOU!

The one part that I had bitd, (and one of my favorite all time parts, Graphite Z's), and one of the parts that I prized even then, and never thought I would see them ever again when my prized steed was stolen in '85, and now they are once again in my posession.

I can finally put to rest a 22 year old woe of losing something that was very precious to me. The whole bike was a snafu of irreplacable parts, as Stings were no longer being made in the USA Paramount room, EDCO parts were impossible to find, and there was no E-bay back then. It was just gone for good as I saw it....

I've spent years regretting the decision to let the bike out of my sight (loan it out), and wished I could go back and undo that day more than any other I think.

It means more to me than you could know....

Thank You Reece! I owe you one!
NSR Jamie
Same as Andy there, I can not find a single looseball High flange Suntour hub in gold....not to mention a set of black High flange SEALED BEARING Suntour hubs too, I did see a set on Ebay but somebody bid like 300 dollars and I just gave up

Guys, I checked out my source for the pads. Not great news. Only 2 blue cal-lite frame pads. Everything else was bar pads on the odd stem pad.
AtariAger

A set of one 20x2.125 and one 20x1.75 (fat/skinny)...MONGOOSE stamped Black tires!!!

Thanks!
