here are some pics from a place called " greenwood " in warwick RI. used to be a great hangout and jumping place. now its flat. show what you got. one pic is me doing my best greg hill tuck, next is a big gap jump few of us did, and last is a big set of triples or a quad, big either way as i remember, pretty high speed jump. loved jumping there and was always a blast.

i loved that jump in the last picture.

OK, OK, you talked me into it.
I have to dig out a few and scan them. but this is the only one I have in my photobucket right now.
circa 1980 on a .25 cent camera, and $10 film.

thats awesome, got some pretty good air there too. we used to use tires too to help build up some jumps and also jump over. love the half shirt. was that a mongoose? kinda looks it from the gussett? very cool. keep em comin.

right on, thanks.
my buddy and I buried tires right behind the lip of the jump so kids wouldn't just ride over them and ruin the lip of the jump. you either jumped, or hit the tire.
it was a supergoose.
I'm looking for the other pics now, found a couple freestyle pics but no more jumping ones. I'll find them.

you have GOT to admit that, as beautiful as a pipe is, plywood ramps on tires in landfills were the best.
That's a good 10' too!!!!!!!!!

Yep, going to constuction sites and "barrowing" materials for ramps. Heck, we built a half pipe and I think it cost us $12 bucks.. LOL.. Those summers of just ridding all day, oh to be 12 again...

Nice pictures and posts guys! There is something basically BMX simple about wooden ramps for jumps.
Life was so much simpler back then.
Enjoy the memories...

Does River Jumping count ?
Touchdown.

My brother Matt when he was 11 , hitting the same jump as Coasty on the previous page.
Me on the same jump , those old 1980's happy snaps camera's sometimes turned out wrong or odd looking shots , or perhaps I startled the photographer....it needs re scanning anyway..

It took a huge set of balls to ride up or down the old house jump & not lose them in the process.

Cement was usually not as forgiving as water , but still plenty of fun.

Table Topping off into the sunset....Life looks simple & tranquil here.

The early 1980's was a good time to be a teenager & "at one" with your bike.
Occasionally a camera or 2 was around to record some of these precious moments in time , to look back at when you really could fly.....

Yeah, I did. I wanted a Haro peak on my helmet real bad. As you can see I eventually got one!
That Grab-on hat copped a lot of abuse over the years.
