whats your preferance for size of bars, more so than style or brand for cruiser bars? i see a lot of old school builds with traditional pro sized bars and some with expert sized bars and obviously some with a cruiser sized 5" bar. what do you run and why?

i have KOS cruiser bars cuz they have that traditional low/wide cruiser bar look, kinda reminds me of how guys put motorcycle bars on their stingrays way back. i have powerlite/vdc cruiser bend bars on my other old powerlite cruiser....they arent as wide but the bend feels great and they still have that lowish cruiser bars look.

Hutch cruiser bars on my XL24.
Very nice bars.
It's fine to run some Expert bars on cruisers provide they are around 6" rise and 28" wide - an inverted stem will help.

I've used the S & M Cruiser 24" Bar(a.k.a. Gay Bars) for almost 7 years. Great cruiser bar. They are 4130 Cro-Mo, 5.75" Rise, 10 degree sweep, and weigh in at 1.9 lbs. Hope this helps!

28+ inches wide, and depending on the size of frame (26" or 24"), 5-6 inches of rise.
I really like the look of the early GT cruiser bars, or the Prodynes.

31" end to end bars off of a Hodaka Combat Wombat. Not too tall, about 5 1/2" rise and a nice sweep on them.

heres where i'm at. i have a set of fly "mike day" cruiser bars in chrome that i absolutely love, the feel, the bend, the look etc.. but i can't put them on my 83 profile as they are just to new school. currently i have a set of GT pro bars on it and they look OK but are just way too big. i just picked up a set of new powerlite expert bars and was going to try them. i don't like bars with a lot of sweep to them so i don't know if i will like the powerlites. anyone have any CW cruiser bars available?

I had a set of VDC bars (thanks to TeamRob) on my 26'' '82 Panda . Love the way they reach for you so you don't have to reach for them. Swapped them for a set of KingSting bars and they look much better.

call me crazy, but I'm a big fan of auburn pro bars.
I like the square top tube, and you can usually get them for a good price. these I bought a couple years ago for $22 shipped. I put the DG decal on for looks.

I know you`re talking about the new GHP bars because you`ll have better luck winning the lotto than having the first gen. j/k

I like the look of the mid 80`s GT bars.

KOS all the way. I would probably try some 1st gen GTs but can never seem to land a set.
The main reason I went with KOS bars was the low rise and there are only a few to choose from in that era.

I had those GHP cruiser bars BITD. Didn't like how they felt and switched to Boss which I loved. Don't know whatever happened to the GHP bars......
Even harder was finding the GHP handlebar pad for those! Even Greg Hill couldn't get me one in '85!

Those GHP bars alway a jaw dropper. I`m getting the GHP f/f, bars, and GHP seatpost (coming soon) rechromed for Christmas to make it PERFECT!

Andy,
That's what I ended up doing. But, they did have some pads with the larger diameter inside and a stitched together cover in the same v shape. I saw them on Greg and/or Clint's bike at a national. I was hoping maybe I would get it at the end of the weekend (hey, I was on the "support" team), but they wouldn't let them go!

Champion cruiser bars...if I can find them.
I also like Powerlite Powerbend and mid-school-ish low-rise bars such as Elf.

i've never owned a set of powerlite cruiser bars, are they at all similar to the expert sized powerlite bars. they look pretty close in terms of width, but how is the height?

Hutch, patterson and original TNT bars are the best 3 IMO. and Fred Z for the mid school.
