All these races were in the years 80-81 I believe. I have some races from the dia-comp nationals at Devenshire, The luberjack nationals at Portland Oregan with the famous Darrell Young "pass" in the air passing Mike Poulson, and alot of other races. Stay tuned........stay tuned...............

good stuff! i am not familiar with a lot of the names but i love seeing the old tracks. i look forward to the dy pics.

you know, it always is funny to me to see those huge old plates. not exactly what you would call aerodynamic
84profile
Wow...they are fantastic photo's...power wheelies! Thanks for sharing!!!
Jet Black
Big un aerodynamic number plates were the least of your worries when racing back then....

It was as much about looking Cool , as it was about gettin Fast & Furious on the race track , back then.

_Great_ photo's for the time period, someone's Dad had a 35mm SLR (that he could use properly) to take the kids sporting photo's.

JB
Jet Black
PS:
Bart MacDaniels , was a short but a very smooth , slick + fast racer at the time.

I don't think he understood fluent Australian or our humour when he visited us here , riding for JMC.He usually had a confused look on his face when I spoke to him here.

Wish I didn't have to use a hosting site to post pics, I have a ton of mid-70's Merritt and McClaren pics. If anyone cares, I've got a thread on the "other" site called "My 70's show" that has a bunch of my photos.
sanjosebmx
Wow rogileo..where have you been hiding all those pics man?!?

You have a box somewhere I could dig through? Those are great!

Love it when you guys share the old school pics. Thanks,

Great photos. The one (7th photo) of two rows, three abreast with the inside guys dropping their leg is what racing is about. Thanks for posting them.
R. Serafin
Chris: I might have afew of you also racing at Watson park, morgan hill, or Hellyer park. I just need to locate them. Im going to my parents home this weekend and pick-up the remaining photos. Anybody remember Danny Copeland when he used to race for Diamond Back ? My pops shot alot of photos at the lumberjack nationals and I remember Mike Salido and Danny were dicing it out at that race.

Thanks for the compliments gang. I'll be posting some more early next week.

I raced Tony one time in Marysville. I led to the last turn and he passed me at the line. Jon Anderson's (the Redline one) dad did a story on it in one of the bmx newspapers of the time.

My very first race at Fremont BMX back in August 1979. I remember I was spinning a 44/18 gearing for a super long track. I finished 1st in this race, and 3rd place in the mains. YEAH BOIIIII !!!

R. Serafin
Fun stuff: Newark Days Parade in Newark California. We participated for 2 years supporting out sponsor Newark Schwinn. We actually won the best show for doing tricks and bunnyhopping over bikes and people. This is Tony Harmon bunnyhopping over 4 people and 4 bikes. Thats me on the rightside with the big hair getting ready to do a Bruce Lee snap kick ( hehehe )
