Well I been told by various people on this site that my hubs are the aluminum ones. But did hutch make the magnesuim shape hubs in aluminum. Did Hutch make a hollow titainium axle? Maybe a early model hub? If I remember correctly it was circa 1982-83. I had these hubs on my 1983 PK ripper back then. PK cracked and long gone. But the hubs I still have. The chrome is flaking away and showing oxidization. Can anyone give me more info? Thanks in advance.

As far as I'm aware, The Hutch mag/Ti hubs were a 3 piece hub and the Ti axle was solid.

no hollow Ti axles --- the hollow ones were chromo

and the alluminum later hubs only came in alluminum

The three hubs Hutch made were:

the "economy hub", which was aluminum body with hollow chromoly axle. This hub is generally seen with a smooth "machined" finish, or perhaps had some light polishing.

the mag/ti, which was the magnesium body with solid titanium axle. Magnesium by nature oxidizes with moisture in the air and turns grey (or develops pitting over long-term). Some guys will debate whether mag bodies were plated, but I have seen documentation from Hutch to support that they were plated, along with the set I bought in 1983 that was, and another set I own now that is. I have also owned a couple survivor sets that had a bright finish, but almost as if they were not plated. It may be that earlier verions (82-83) had "Richard Hutchins-inspected" plating on them, which then got thinner as production volumes increased.

the aluminum body with hollow chromoly axle, same shape as the mag/ti. Chrome plated finish.

ok thanks I'm asking this becuse it changes the value of the sale of my bike stuff that I'm selling. I think they are the aluminum version of the mag/ti hubs going by the info. A friend offer a good sum of money for my bike and parts. I think he might put it on ebay after he's done deciding on what he want to keep.
