I thought it would be cool to take a photo of all the old BMX mags I have.

This is my collection from July 81 to late 84.
Most of these I got new BITD and I kept them ever since.
Some have a few lose pages and rips but all the pages are still there.

I have got a few recently to fill in the gaps - continuing into early 85 and a few from 86 (notably the BMX Action 10th Anniv. issue), 87 and 88 (just so I could see what developed after I quit in 85).

I also have a few other mags - Australian Pancake, UK BMX Action Bike, Crash & Burn (with BMX in it), Freestylin' (issue #1) and a couple of issues of Super BMX.
You could not get Super BMX down here BITD but on reading it now I wish I could have - it's a cool mag.

Out of interest I'm missing a few mags.
(If anybody has any doubles they want to sell LMK).

We used to get Super BMX down in Wellington, still got all mine. Have still got any of the NZ mags?

Cool Paul.

Yep - I have have 'Peddlepusher' magazine.
It survived only one issue
Awful name for a magazine!

I did the cartoon for it - fancied myself as a 'Bob Haro' at the time - lol

Nice pics Andy, brings back so much cool memories !
Those mags were so expensive to get here in Europe BITD

The 10th anni was my last issue of my subscription. Still have it. Have the first freestylin one as well. I remember gettin it in the mail, I was blown away. I was instantly saving for a white master. Good stuff, thanks

I got all the BMX Actions from 1980 to July 83 & a few more after that , but only single copies , I never thought of buying any spares or extras bitd.
I managed to keep most my collection of early 1980's BMX magazines intact & in reasonable condition over 25 years , & have become kind of attached to them & so has Matt.
But
If I find any old copies of Super BMX I will gladly send you them.

The collection I treasure the most is my Action Now
Magazine's
I subscribed to it bitd but somehow I am missing 3 copies of it.

1981 March
1981 August
1981 November

I can live with trading or selling old mags that I only have a few copies of from a certain year , but when you are this close to finishing up a collection that you should still have but somehow lost , weren't delivered or possibly weren't even printed these 3 "mystery" issues become annoying.

Like most people who lived the life back then , the collections you have managed to keep for so long are of no cash value , it's all sentimental , they were the best years of our lives + our names & photo's are scattered thru a lot of the Australian ones.
Matt will get them when I die & the 700kg fireproof document safe that usually houses them & our old photo's , & they will be held there until his son is old enough to appreciate their actual worth & what his Father & Uncle got up to when they were "young men".

LOL!
Oldtimer1980s
Okay Jet Black, I have to ask:

Do you know how to use that "device" in your right hand?

Sidebar:
I shot Western Action for 3 or 4 years , "vintage shooting" so to speak.
It would be fair to say I feel quite comfortable working that 20in DB shotgun , .45 lever action longarms + a pair of .45 single action pistols at a very rapid rate with high accuracy & rapidly reloading these old 1880's
replica "clunkers"

Using a pair of modern day 1911 .45's feels lazy , & a pair of Bull barrell Ruger .22's is sheer luxury.

My collection spans 1978 to today. About 1000 issues. I'd love to find a library to donate them to. Anybody know of such a place?
