Johnny "Iceman" Turner STILL rips things up here in Florida. He's awesome, and he's still stinkin' FASTer than "greased owl poop"......!
Shelby lived around the corner from me. I remember his dad built a track in the back yard.

Definitely Eric Rupe. I got to practice with him at Rockford and it was like. "Wow, that's Eric Rupe!"
Seth and Roland were both awesome.
If we're going to include transplants, how about Ed Ferri?

Dont forget Percy "Spiderman" Owens, Ronny "sky" Walker and David Milham. (did he have a nickname?) Oh yeah, and didnt Todd Lyons live here for a while. Brian Foster lived with Shag and worked at Cycle Craft painting bike and rode Datytona every day when he first turned pro. Do you remember Kevin Daughrty and Jacguel Gonzalez? Then again Mikey Brandt was national number one seven years in a row and Mike Crehan won EVERYTHING no matter where he lived.

I should know this, but what about Maria McGilvray? I think she was more midschool. When did she start winning everything?

Thanks HK, but I don't think I deserve to be on this list. My "glory days", such as they were, didn't start till the mid/later '80's.
Marie was indeed a mid school bloomer- she started kicking butt in '88 or so.
Here's some more names from back then- Dave Mountain, the Pirkle Bros., Dianna Mauro, Kirt Carlock, Andy and Kevin Pare, John and Bonnie Hutelin, Laurie Plant, Kim Groener- now Mrs. Johnny Turner, Doug Hinkle, John Infinger, Doug "Chickenman" Ware...

if you look on the "florida old school" thread, you'll see the results i posted from the '80 schwinn sunshine special...they spelled vince's name "ashbury"...probably cuz he was burning everyone in his class. k robison, did you tell them in npsa you couldn't pull back off or over the gate. i think you got three chances.
