Anyone here familiar with these?

Theyre not mine, but I saw them on there and was just curious if they were very common or not.

Ah, yes... Back to 3rd grade I go.....

This is what Cook Brother's Pedals look like. As for rarity, I have only seen 2 pairs within the last 3 years.

The variety if parts CBR actually came out with bitd never ceases to amaze me , possibly because I was living in Australia & only knew of their "new" products thru magazines. Where did CBR stamp or cast their name into the pedals or did they only have sticker's on them ? Seems that CBR pedals are more real than Thruster pedals now anyway....

Did you see the old ad for those CBR cranks you have there in the Lets talk Cook Bros thread ?, they chose an interesting numbered Aluminium Alloy to make them out of...

so if someone had those ccoks bros pedals NOS in the box would you say they are god? the ruler?

the king of collectors? im just curious...........
rimspoke2
Tone, I'd say they would be Jack the current owner of cbr
Jet Black
No , I'd say they are the male equivalent of a woman who collects shoes.

If someone did have a NOS set stashed away I'd stick with my first statement after reading the spec's of Mongose Nick's bike when it was up for sale & passed in on Ebay.

The more I look , the more I wonder what other specials come out of this little boutique bike making company in Santa Ana....

7075-T6

7075 is the second-most common aluminum alloy, behind 6061. The 7075 is sometimes referred to as "aircraft aluminum", since 7075 is the preferred alloy for aircraft frame components. I refer to 7075 as being "harder" than 6061, and 6061 being "gummier". Although both alloys can be buffed to a bright shine finish, 7075 can be brought closer to a near-chrome finish compared to 6061 because it is a harder alloy. 7075 material also costs 30-50% more than 6061.

As you probably know, the T6 stands for the tensile strength, and can vary slightly within the alloy. It is not necessary to include the tensile rating when referring to a particular alloy, but it is certainly more specific if you do.

In case you are curious, the third-most common alloy is 2024, followed by cast tooling plates with proprietary alloy ratios based on the manufacturer. Those alloys usually have brand names rather than the alloy composition because they are marketed towards a specific purpose whereas the material composition is not critical.

In laymans terms, 7075 is the highest quality alloy that could be used for those cranks.

tone, were you at rockford? I meant to say hi but I was running around there like a drunken stumblebum and carelessly forgetting lots of things I meant to do.

Sounds like you (John) had an Australian education in the 1980's or went on to college or work in an industry that required you to learn a "bit" more than the average person in the US about applied metalurgy.....

A lot of my educators in high school , were nice enough to explain the metalurgy , workings , numbers etc etc behind the various "Alloys" used on my BMX bikes bitd , _years_ before I was supposed to know about carbon content curves , hardening techniques , applications etc etc , all that extra accumulated knowledge came in real handy when I started my Electrical trade/odessy when I left school.

Want to build something to sell to the US .mil ?
I'm sure You , Ted Carl , My brother & I could make a few interesting things for them to regularly buy.

Then we could support our VBMX habit very very comfortably.....

CBR parts & other well engineered "stuff" would become very affordable.

JB, pm sent.

I might add, I only know of 1 BMX part that was advertised as being made from 2024, and that is the Hutch aluminum mini bars on my LiL Holeshot. I have no idea why Hutch would have paid more for 2024 and had a harder time sourcing that bar stock when 6061 would likely have worked equally as well. Perhaps a marketing edge to one-up the competition on quality? That's my guess.
