My basement, carport, etc. are getting way too full of bikes. So, I was thinking I'd put 'em all in my attic.
But, what concerns me is the possible effects that an attic's extreme temperature swings would have on vulnerable parts like tires, grips and decals.
Anyone have any good/bad experiences with this?

I have a beautiful early tuff neck that got blown out, most likely from temp extremes in my garage attic here in the midwest. See my pic's and post here.

Ok it's not completely beautiful, but having it crack really sucked.

I would not put a Judge in the attic.

aside from freak weather catastrophe, if you store something in the attic, it would be good to insulate under the roof and have good sized window ventilation on both ends of the roof.
i do just this and i run a fan to blow the heat out during the peak hot parts of the day.
aside from giving me a bmx hideaway it really keeps the 2nd floor of the house cooler during the summer and warmer in the winter.
there's my owens-corning pitch...

My friend's Race Inc. had the grips and tires melt and/or turn to goo.

My CompIII's dry rotted over the winter. Bad thing was they survived 22 years mounted on a bike rim that hung on a wall in a shop. One winter in the attic ruined......
White parts tend to yellow and my garage has some heat and a/c in it to help control even the attic temps. I might store a frame/fork but that is it.

I think I'll skip the attic storage, then...
Thanks for all the input!

I have my parts stored in the crawl space. It's fully cement, with carpet remnants, and a good full tilt dehumidifier for the summer. So far so good on rubber and stuff. I feel better about it than in the garage, but I've seen basement bikes and garage bikes rot the same so who knows.

Dark, cool and dry.. top condition.
Attics fluctuate too much in temp for sure for anything other than a f/f like outfront said.
