Any ideas? I've been through the museum but i don't seem to come up with anything.

Ok...ok...I "do" know what it "isn't"....
spike
Looks like a high flange Bendix hub with a Femco type/style rim, cool.

Reilley1 pointed me at Raleigh. There is a 78 R-11 in the museum that is very similar. The banana seat had me looking towards something older.
Nighthawk
That looks identical to my first BMX bike, a Ross 'Snapper', circa 76-78 I think. Same gusset, looptail rear, dropouts, exact paint color, everything. Same chrome fork, heavy duty steel rims, and stem, pedals, black seatpost, etc. Heavy steel frame. I think my bars had a crossbar, but I cant remember for sure. Didn't have a banana seat but I suspect that was added to your bike anyway. Decals were yellow/orange, and it had blue vinyl snap pads. Boy I would really like to have that.

Show it some TLC! Nice survivor!

I second the Ross Snapper. I had a black one and my brother had the blue.

Damn Brutal guys. I will say it is Not the R-10 or R-11 for sure - they would have two hole gusset like the Redline's. Nice fork Tange TX-500. Keep it as is or sell it off to someone who will love it and pet it.
Nighthawk
Not sure if the forks are Tange or Akisu, they had a small recess in a round shape for the bolt and a narrow slot for the axle to slip in. I am positive thats a Ross Snapper. I have not ever seen one on this site or any other until now. Wow. I know its nothing special of a bike in the big picture of BMX but it was special to me. Memories.

Ross Snapper confirmed.

Stock except the finish, seat, tires and pedals.

My 1st bmx [type] bike in 1977.

Yes, the Snappers had that fork bend. Kinda cool looking frame, actually. IMO...

A kid at my Jr. High had one he spray-bombed pink, and called it a Hutch, LOL!

Ok...I now have the bike in my possession. Nobody mentioned the Preston Petty grips....I didn't even notice until I received the bike. I will be switching these out for another similar set that is not so nice.

Is it possible that the seat could be original? The mounting holes seem to be original or very nicely done if added later. The paint on the inside of the seat tube and head tube appear to be, in color, very similar to the spray bomb paint job which matches the seat very nicely. I suppose that it might have been replaced but it seems to be "weathered" in a very "period correct" manner.

Rear hub is the SST "coasterbrake". Rims are HL (made in Taiwan) and the front hub has no markings.
