I totally dig that orange finish, Rick. What kind of rear tire is that?
Superb.

...and that "before" shot really helps. More of us need to do this (like me, for example).

Thanks for the comments.
Carlisle Agressor tire Alfa. And thanks to Ted Carl, I managed to save the front sprocket with the Oxalic acid treatment. Thanks to Tony Montalbano (Motomag) for getting the fork renickeled and to Mr Auburn for getting me the fork decals.
The downtube decals are original multicolor ones and I believe they came fro Darren Chan...

Rick, THAT IS COOL. I'm sittin' here listening to old 70's tunes, and THIS pops up. It's bad enough "livin' in the past" in your head, then to see one of your playthings show up in prestine condition on the web. I knew when you took the bike it was going to a good home. What would make it spot on would be Araya GOLD dimpled rims, Goodyear Eagles, and the 7 1/4" cranks my dad made. ( Some guy in Florida(?) has them on a WEBCO, says Bottima(?) gave them to him(?).) The bike is the same pictured in the Mini-Cycle Action pull-out poster you you put up several times. Well, Alice Cooper is playin' now. I'm gonna fade back into 1978 now. Bye. Rick Courteau

I always like running a Carlisle on the back with a Cheng Shen on front, but I notice that most people with Carlisles put them on the front. Why the back for you?
Beautiful bike!

Monster, Although you see the tire on the front on a lot of builds, the Carlisle was made originally as a rear tire only (therfore the lack of side knobs) I had forgotten all about it until Mel Stoutsenberger reminded me of that little fact.
FV, I'm aware of the "Ultimate" designator but this frame is an early pre-production Cr-mo model. The oval is different and also has a different geometry from the production ones and therefore has no model designator.
