Question:
If someone places an ad for MX 1000 brakes do you immediately assume Dia-Compe? The ad states "MX 1000" not "MX 1000 type" or "MX 1000 copy" or similar. Do other brands also market "MX 1000" brakes? Thought I got a good deal initially...

pauly, you know what they say about assuming.....

LOL

all joking aside, i normally will want a pic to see if there is a quick release on them. that is usually a tell tale sign they are DC's.....
if there is no mention of dia-compe i will be very wary......

The usual. Dodgey tactics. A bit like people who carefully photograph old school flight cranks and don't show the pedals boss's, trying to make you assume they are full wrap. Then there are those genuine Fuan F1 grips...(see other post). Shame people feel the need to be shady....

Ahhhh!

I've pulled up a few peopel for selling these copies who are not being clear in their listings that the brakes are COPIES.

Simply NOT saying that they are not Dia Compes in the auction lisiting is not an excuse for the seller to have a come back to the effect of "but I didn't SAY the WERE DiaCompes - the buyer should be able to tell they are copies".

Er - what?

I call it being very naughty and it sucks.

There are copies that are marked 'MX1000A' which are often noted in the listing.
Yes that is the model of the brake (copy) but the sellers do not mention teh brand ie. Chang Star, Lee Chee, Formos etc.

It's easy to see things the way you want to see them. You need to look hard and ask questions.
Are the threads stripped? Anything wrong with them? Any dents, dings etc?
If they don't have a good answer, then always expect the worst.
It sucks, but it's ebay.
Be careful about low bins. It's easy to hit the button in a panic to be first, but you may get burned!
If it's worth the gamble, then so be it.

I have 3 auctions on ebay right now for real MX1000's and they all specifically state DC or Dia Compe. Don't want there to be any misunderstandings.
