i realized i never hear mention of the "kick-out" when reminiscing about BITD.

our neighborhood was really into this skill before bunnyhopping was all the rage.

we'd pride ourselves on our accuracy as if we were obtaining a KungFu belt.

tossing pop cans onto sidewalks, etc.
Tuff 1's were the bomb for this task, too.

Maybe this skill is hush hush because we are too embarrassed about bashing in the older neighbor's metal trash can.....

Dude, kickouts are one of my mainstays!

My cousin added a "kickout spike" which was a spike from a "dresser bike" (i.e. a decked out Harley) to his Skyway. It was the right TPI and everything. As we were flying down the alley he upped the ante with a bunnyhop to kickout to mid-air puncture of a trashcan. That was so rad!

For added fun, try kickout to flattened 2 litre pop bottle skid. Endless slide...

We would have fun doing kick outs on garbage day. Get out of school, and ride thru the hood, seeing who could side kick the trash cans across the street too the other sidewalk. Skyways WERE the best wheels for the kickouts.

The trash cans were empty of course.

I remember seeing if I could bend my Z rim as far as Mike Buff did in an old pic in BMXA-funny how I remember that pic so vividly. You would have be careful of the 'recoil', though..

HEHEHE We would ride around taking out newspaper machines and hubcaps on cars. Of course this was at 1-2 am in the morning and would make alot of noise, but we were faster than the local cop LOL

I ride around with my boys, and teach them all of those skills. Am I a bad person? Mwahaha!
We also try to kick items at each other when least expected, or at targets.
We also do a little 'burnout' while riding over trash to kick it back on whoever is behind you.

We called it dossing (I have no idea how one would spell it though) cans

Kick it out!

I first learned to bunny hop by keeping the front wheel down on the ground and kicking up my back wheel only, then kicking it out left and right. Once I could control the kick out, then I started bunny hops. Then I could also kick out in the air later. So, yes, I would say it is essential skills 1.01.
