I am looking for a Supergoose for a friend of mine. It needs to be around 79-81 +/-. I am not too well versed on these, so what is the difference between a Supergoose and a Mongoose Motomag, and whatever else they had out?

What would I expect to buy a frame and fork combo for, or even a decent rider. I am not looking for mint show bike.

Can anyone send me the link if this has already been discussed in another thread?

just buy mine, i can sell it with the complete decal set and any other parts he may want, up to complete, i will even restore it for the right price.

I forgot all about yours. Actually, my buddy emailed me back asking more info about yours, but I do not know much at all about Mongoose. Can you resend the info, and the price?

The supergoose (and Team Mongoose) were the top of the line geese at the time. Supergoose being nickel plated and then by 1981 chrome plated.

The motomag was tri-moly...chromoly front triangle and a mild steel rear.

on the "team" the inside of the drive side seat stay was flatened to stop chain rub. i do not know if they did this on the "super".

Here is my Team. This is a complete NOS 1980 in catalog condition - minus the Mongoose winner's choice snakebelly's vs. Cycle Pro Snakebelly's. Nothing restored here!~ I do have the NOS guard and reflectors too!

There are a LOT of other differences in a Motomag, Supergoose and Team Team was the top of the line in my eyes. How many Team nikes do you see compared to Supergoose?
I have an early 78 frame that does not have the crimp for the chain on the rear. They started that in 1979.

He also is one of my 1978 Motomag. This is what one would have looked like in 1978 on the showroom floor.

AND here is my 1979 Motomag as well!

Nice. I love "showroom floor" look.

Yes they did, starting in 1981 with the step-up dropout models.

Well, considering they were essentially the same frame...geometry and materials...they were BOTH top of the Mongoose line.

Its my opinion that you see more Supergoose bikes because quite simply, "supergoose" was a cool freakin' name. To a 12-15 year old kid, it was way cooler than Mongoose...the word "super" was easy to comprehend. Well all grew up knowing who "superman" was, right?

It said, this is a above normal badd *** bike. "Team" Mongoose just didnt have that punch.

The other factor was that chrome was HOT in 1980, 1981...that made chosing the supergoose an easy choice.
Randy
The Team Mongoose lacks the punch of the supergoose?

It's the ULTIMATE MONGOOSE!

My 1978 restored stock Team Mongoose.

See, to a 12 year old...it still just says "mongoose" on the sticker. Eh, no biggie. It doesnt stand apart like something that has "super" on it, lol.

Dont get me wrong Randy, thats about the baddest goose I think I have ever seen!!!

By 1981/1982, the Supergoose seemed to be a lot more advertised than Team Mongooses. And I remember seeing Supergooses being sold at my LBS's a lot more than Teams.
