Hi all,
Just wondering (after a year or more now) if anyone knew of what ever became of the late great Sandy's BMX 'assets' ....
He seemed to be sitting on a pile of uncirculated bmx mags, (i bought many from him) and wheels'n'things parts and a load of great history & info that many oldschoolers would hardly remember.
I always wondered if his family had passed all that onto ABA, vintagebmx or something?
anyone?

Wow, I only met Sandy Finkelman once and did not know who he was until he told me that he was one of the first importers of Japanese bmx bikes into the USA. He was looking over my bike and my girls' Shogun Tange bike and gave it his blessing "that's how they came, many without the forks." I understood I was in the presence of greatness and history. Respect and Big thank you for making bmx what it is. Coach, Businessman, Incon, Innovative thinker. I never knew him personally to say all of this but look what he has done and reverberated in one lifetime.
What will people remember of my contributions to mankind?
I better check myself- before I wreck myself and stop here.
Rest in Peace and may all your efforts be respected.

I received a few things from him a few years back.
great man, love to talk...
he sold me an Elina Lighting bolt seat, it got here had stains all over it, he refunded half my money and sent me a compleate Torkker decal set, (an old one.) and a bunch of wheel'n things decals.
very cool....

I think that a large number of the heavyweight pieces from the Shop were sold to collectors over what turned out to be the last decade+ of his life. He was a bulldog when it came to selling and I know a ton of stuff stayed in his possession when he felt that the would be buyer was interested only in flipping it. That is to say that despite the value of what he was holding he would only sell if he felt that the buyer appreciated the true spirit of BMX. There was no showing up on his doorstep with a roll of hundreds and walking away with bmx gold, you would be asked to sit down and talk first. Questions asked and answered this way and that. Great, great man.

Sandy's sister is very much on top of it. This is understandably an emotional issue for her. She's dealing with it in her own time and her own way.

I can understand the sensitivity of the matter.
This thread wasn't a gold-digging mission, it was a simply a "whaetever happened to..." enquiry...
I'm on the other side of the world, it's not like i'm gonna go doorknocking, asking to 'have' it all ;-)
I know i'm not the first to ask about the "pile" of stuff, and where it is etc etc....although some other people haven't exactly used a tactful approach to such a delicate situation....gold-diggers indeedy.... ;-0

Lots of good thought to Karen (Sandy's sis).
She is a very nice lady dealing with a lot.
This is more to her than selling bike parts.
