Question first for the Redline gurus. The only number I can find on the frame in on the bottom of the bottom bracket just above the Redline logo within an oval. The number is: 50 250. When was this frame made??

Here's the build - kind of an eclectic old school / newer school mix with a specious paint scheme thrown in for good measure:

Redline PL-20 Frame
Redline Fork (I still have the orignal PL-20 fork, but
it has a cracked dropout, so it is
being held in reserve for after it's
future meeting with Rod Miles)
Cyclecraft Fred'z bars
DK stem (rounded off top cap)
Generic headset
GT seat
GT seatpost (disguised with a Redline sticker)
GT dual bolt seatpost clamp
Dia-Compe Big Dog brakes & MX 101 lever
Generic bottom bracket
Non-wrap Redline Flight 401s
Redline Flight chainwheel
SR MTP-1000 (sealed) pedals w/ DK Kages
UKAI rims
Stainless spokes w/ red, chrome, blue nipples
Nuke Proof hubs
Tioga Comp III blackwall tires
COMING SOON:
Chain (whatever)

Please let me know about the serial number and let me know what you think about the bike.

If the frame has the support piece at the bottom bracket it's '84 or newer. As far as dating I would guess '85 ....the 5 being the first number in the serial number. This is only a guess as to decoding these aren't the easiest.

My advice put all era correct parts on it. Don't get me wrong your work is out standing but it's like 80 % old school 20% mid why not make it all correct when you do the forks.

Definetly a very nice bike...everything looks great. A set of Redline v-bars and dia comp 900 or 1000 would make it more correct.

The support piece at the bottom bracket started in 81. Any letters in front of that serial number? RA, RB, RC, etc...
