When Chrome plating was no longer c00l ?
Some time after 1985. ?

I don't think I have seen a set of factory/production Black US made Flites.
I'll take a wild guess & say sometime this century , rather than last century..

I have a "mixed" set of 6 spline full wrap double pinch 180's , one was Red the other is Chrome , mixed by the different welding style for each arm , both have a good quality finish & look to them. No idea on when or where they were made...

You might get a better answer in the Tech & Resto section , this area is pinchless , single pinch & the really weird/rare late 1970's Filte Crank turf

Black flites would probably have more than 6 splines & possibly considered to be "new"

I don't remember black 401s BITD.

I bought a set of new factory white powdered 401 arms in mid 85.

there were black 401s, but only for a short time before they changed to the "non-wrap" style Flites...apprx 1989/90ish.
