Bill Curtain,

You accuse Bryan Esser of belonging to a 'clique'. True. All of us, or at least most of us, that post in VINTAGE BMX TALK, are members of that clique...BITD BMX'ers...yourself included. But you make it sound awful.

You accuse Bryan Esser of being an 'elitist', quoting him as saying: "What do TODAY'S racers...TOMORROWS HOF nominees bring to the table that is HOF worthy?" And: "Remember they are ICONS of our sport and they represent the virtues and standards that 'we' set."

Then you say: "Who the hell is 'we'?

Common sentence structure: 'we' refers back to 'our sport'...'we' are the members of 'our sport'. 'We' are the people who vote for new HOF inductees. This is not 'elitist'.

These are your reasons for banning Bryan from VINTAGE? The only part of this that holds water is that VINTAGEBMX is your website...you get to do what you want with it.

I, however, get to have my opinion of what you do with it. Up until the banning of Bryan Esser, my opinion was that you were doing great (read my intro to the HISTORY OF FREESTYLE).

My opinion now is that you have made a terrible mistake. If you have some personal problem with Bryan, which you allude to, take it up with Bryan personally.

Here is an 'elitist' rant that you completely ignored:

"For a while I thought Bryan was an arrogant, clueless, uneducated, and disrespectful guy that once raced BMX and held his views from his own little world. In the "clips sucks" and the "While You Were Sleeping...." threads, I even spent some of my own energy to try to bring young Bryan up to speed and (for lack of a better term) "educate" him as to what has gone on since he stopped paying attention to our sport."

"But......."

"After watching the YouTube clip of Bryan's attempt at public speaking (and after the scores of typos and grammatical errors I read daily), I have decided that educating Bryan on modern day BMX is truly a lost cause. The video clip and misspelled rants will now be put to use locally as I plan on using them to motivate kids to stay in school."

"So, after I learned a bit more about Bryan, I replaced the word "arrogant" with "ignorant" (ignorant, clueless, uneducated and disrespectful guy that once raced BMX and holds his views from his own little world) and called it good."

In completely ignoring Pliska's rant you compounded your mistake. If you learned anything about me from reading BMX ACTION back in the day, you know that fairness is very important to me.

I cannot do anything more than I have done here to rectify this unfairness. What I can do, is remove myself from this site. Please do to my VINTAGE name what you did with Bryan's. Make it 'unregistered'.

What he said was a fair statement, and OZ is an adult and can choose to do what he wishes. Unfortunately however, we have possibly lost one of the greatest ambassadors the sport has ever seen, and a great man as well from this site. I hope he doesnt mean it. Come back OZ!!!!!!!!!

People are getting WAY to touchy around here...

This is a HUGE loss...

OZ

Thank you but I doubt they will unregister you. They will just make this go away!

Bill

You can have Elvis lock it up and put any band-aid on it if you like! If you chose to act like Ken has not played his part in this you are wrong. How long before he starts it up again. If he has a problem with people looking at ideas for the sport to grow he will have them for you site as well.

I'm sure most won't care, but OZ isn't the only one leaving.
I have also asked to be unregistered.
I'm pretty sure I know of others also.

We all get passionate over what we believe in. Sometimes even the smallest things get conveyed as a little too personal, sometimes we stick our foot in our mouths and it IS personal. OZ has been around this block a few times, and if he saw something that he feels is against his grain, it`s up to him to say he`s had enough.

Sorry to hear it OZ. I was a subscriber to BMXA and Freestylin` for most of the time I rode. I don`t venture into the Vintage section often, but I`ve enjoyed much of what you`ve said here since i`ve been a member. As a matter of fact, it was the History of Freestyle piece that lured me here.

Oz, is the coolest guy in the world. Just the fact that he is on here, is the best. When I met him in Rockford, he was just as I hoped he would be. Just happy go lucky guy. So many of my bmx dreams have come true thanks to this site.

Oz, stick around. I'm not sure what is going on, but your one of the reasons we're all here. OZ IS STOKE>

It's just an internet message board...geez.

I just got back from kinkos having some fliers printed up that I made for a coworker who is having a fundraiser for his 9 year old boy who's facing organ failure from severe diabetes.

I attended a ceremony monday for a coworker who passed away at the age of 33 from an aggressive form of cancer leaving a behind a husband and two young daughters.

I read a story about a mother who knocked her SUV into nuetral and lost the grip on her newborn and watch it get rolled over and crushed by the front tire. She recently lost her husband in Iraq. Now she's alone.

Should I go on?

With all due respect to our supposed "icons"... get a life.
