It is a bit of a long story about how I acquired this frame back in 2004 (I think) but once I realized what it was I just knew I had to have it restored.
The previous owner told me the story about how his son was practicing the day before a national race when the front end started feeling soft and by the end of the next lap the downtube was completely disconnected from the headtube. Fortunately his son was not injured and Dad returned to his shop where he fabricated the big 'ol nasty 3 piece gusset to repair the headtube. His son raced the bike the following day.
When I received the complete bike I didn't even give the frame a second look and just hung it on the wall in my garage. It wasn't until several weeks later while disassembling the bike did I look at the bottom bracket and the lightbulb finally went off in my head. This is a alumium HUTCH Junior Racer! A true survivor!

Phase 1 Complete January 2005: I knew this was a job that only our fearless Rod Miles could handle and I think this picture pretty well sums up just how incredibly talented he is. Thanks Rod!

Phase 2 Completed April '07: Nearly three years later and the project is finally finished. The frame has been paired with a matching fork, both have new black powdercoat, and new reproduction decals installed (thanks John!). The original titanium spindle, bearings, and collars have also been re-installed.

Let me know what you think!
Enjoy!

I haven't decided what to do with it just yet but to be honest my heart really isn't into building it up and for that reason I will most likely let 'er go. I know there are several guys out there that would love to complete the build and I just don't have the time to put in to at this point. Unfortunately my days of doing year long builds is behind me and that is evident by the fact that it took 3 years just to get to this point. I kind of feel like I did my part to bring it back to life and now it feels appropriate to pass the baton on to someone else to complete it.
Thanks for the positive comments!
Cheers,
Alan

Sorry, I kind of lost track of this thread but thanks to everyone for your comments. Great to see a few names pop up that I haven't seen in a while.
Dr. F and Big Daddy...what's up guys?
Dave: Little did I know that I had a shop 2 blocks away from my office so I opted to use them instead of going to Sac. Thanks for the help though and hope to see you on Saturday.
