We were doing an ops in vehicle pre-primary lane at work. I spotted a truck pulling a "Malcolm Smith" trailer. I went up to the driver and asked stupidly if "Malcolm was around" The driver smiled and pointed to his passenger. It was Malcolm!
i went to the passenger side window, shook his hand and blabbed about MX and BMX and "On Any Sunday"
I knew i wanted an autograph but didn't have anything to write on. Like some deranged teenager I ran in full uniform (Body armor, gun, etc) to get a piece of paper. When I went back to the truck, Malcolm had a shirt all signed for me. Now, it's not prohibited but it's not exactly kosher to accept such a thing. I hesitated. Malcolm sensed the hesitation and with that classic Malcolm smile he goes "Just hide it."
I got my shirt.

What did you expect? You were packin, he spends a lot of time in Mexico, he's used to the shakedown. Surprised there wasn't a $100 bill wrapped up in it. I've met him in passing at a couple of motorcycle events over the years and have a couple friends who know him pretty well. Everything that was portrayed in On Any Sunday is 100% true, a true hero.

That is so cool! Just watched the last part of OAS last night! I even bought the Felt tribute bike to the Husq 400 that he rode in that film.

The part with him flying across the desert wide open is the coolest piece of motorcycle footage ever recorded. Fox did a tribute/copy of that with Johnny Campbell a few years ago on one of their videos. No videos have ever attempted to recreate riding back from Mexico on top of live sea turtles.
Monster, you need to find a little Champion sticker for the tank of that bike. And get yourself some of those goggles.

3 days later Malcom gave up looking for the Address. Perhaps the Mysterious caller was wrong about an old man in Mexico wishing to return one of his most prized bikes from years past.
He never could figure out what the deal was with that funny acting agent at the border. At least giving the guy a T-Shirt made him go away!
Good times!
