like most of you i would imagine, i'm an older guy who used to love his bike. but gf's, drivers license, college, jobs, etc. just kinda distracted from them me for about, uhhh, 16 years.

i just bought a 85 haro sport f&f from dansharos that i plan to rebuild, had one back in the day. then while looking for parts on the bay earlier this week i picked up a 95 team master for 150 bucks, and then there is the well aged pk ripper thats in the basement that i've had since dokken was cool... the last time i messed with it i stripped all the paint off everything for a college design project. i'm glad i never got rid of it, something inside me told me i would regret it if i did.

anyway, i've been collecting and restoring old rc10 radio control buggies for the past 8-9 years, hopefully i can manage my funds between the two without going broke.

so again, hello peeps.

Dokken Rocks! Welcome aboard, I don't drink coffee so a supersized Redbull will work.

welcome. way cool that you kept your bike. so how about posting up some pics of that design project? i see you are in chicago, you've been told about rockford right? right? ice coffee for me thanks
badhoopty
i read about rockford in the banner. thats just a few hours from me. is that the same place i remember way back in the mags being a bmx camp?

the actual design project part of the bike is long gone. i did a bmx company as a project for school and used the pk and its components as the brand of 'my' bike. the whole concept was 'naked' as in there was no paint or added fluff, so i sandblasted EVERYTHING. it actually looked pretty slick... that was back in 95 or 96. the decals and all that were cool, but they werent color safe and quickly faded, so i took them off.

heres a pic of how it is now. other than tires and grips its the exact same setup i rolled on years ago. (bitd i couldnt afford 3piece cranks.)

no. not a camp. there is an aba national at the track that weekend and it is basically a reunion in conjunction with that. lots of folks show up on thursday to socialize but the official vintage events start on friday. check the posts in the gatherings forum for more info and tips.

certainly don't need to be an oldtimer to this site or bmx to feel welcome. everyone is treated like family and/or long lost friends you never knew you had. it is so amazing. check it out. you won't be sorry

that sounds like a fun project to do. so what kind of grade did you get?
badhoopty
i got an honorable mention at a regional student design competition and that assignment was part of what i showed. it was one of the funner projects i had. i did the bike all up with graphics, did a little photoshoot of it in my room and made a brochure and t-shirts and packaging and all that jazz. my god, that was over 10 years ago...

i rode for the first time in ages today. i just tooled around and nothing more, and i'm sore as heck.

btw, whats with the coffee thing?
