Greg Leasure here from BMX World Magazine. Just wanted to check in with you and get your professional opinion. Now that you've had sometime to thumb through the newest issue of BMX World, what do you think of our efforts?

(This might be the most nerve wracking post I've ever done)

Hope to hear from you....

Aloha,
-Greg Leasure

Greg, the magazine you gave me at the Phoenix race I loaned to someone and didn't get it back. I did look through it first, though. If you REALLY want me to critique BMX WORLD, please send me another copy so I can do a good job of it.

But remember, if you ask me a question, more than likely you are going to get an answer.

Truthfully, I'm honored that you asked.

Oz,

I'm honored that you've even heard of me before!

I appreciate that you will take the time and look it over and give us feedback. Good or bad, we'd love to hear it.

Shoot me over your mailing address and I'll get you out a copy.

Send it to: greg@bmxworldmag.com

Thank you for you time,

-Greg Leasure
Oz
Greg, you got mail.

Mr. Osborn,

Magazine headed your way!

Thank you again for letting me send you this and for everything you have done for me as a BMXer.....

As a kid, I was lost in amazement with BMX ACTION. If we can help one kid get that same feeling as I had when I was young, reading your mag, then I think we could be on the right track......

My opinion is of no great consequence but "I" really love the mag! Of course the vintage interviews and sections are my favorite. Waiting for the feature on Gary's BBQ with some degree of anticipation.
King of Pipeline
Yeah, I picked up the first few issues, which I got a picture in there, ( mail section with Chad kagy ). I about had a heart attack when I seen my pic in there.
But, for my honest opinion, I haven't seen the last few issues because they stopped selling it here, in the mall, Minnesota.
Also I know the title BMX World, is BMX. But I needed more ....... Freestyle and variety. The Old school of course rules> but, I paged through one issue, and just put it back, and had no, motovation to buy it..
But dont' get me wrong... This coming from a guy who's got 22 boxes of BMX magazines collected.

I just needed a bit more motovation to buy it..
HA Y N
Thanks guys, good or bad we like to hear your comments. Anyways, the GH BBQ will be in the next issue (written by Johnny Johnson) and the pics are cool too.

King of Pipe-
We'll keep doing our best to make you pick it up and buy it next time you come across a copy!

oh yea, and Oz has a lifetime subscription...no worries there!

Greg,
Have you thought about asking the Mighty Oz to write a column for BMX World? It could be something along the lines of what Peter Egan writes for Cycle World. That would be priceless to hear the wonderful words of Bob Osborn in a BMX magazine again! Just a wild idea I thought I should throw out there.
As far as how you guys are doing with the magazine;I would say, two thumbs way up!!!
Keep up the good work, every issue is better than the last, and you are on the right track.
Oz
Thanks Bryan, that is a nice compliment.

Greg L...Thanks for the sub (and thanks Tim, for wangling him into it).

Greg, a question: Describe the person(s) you aim your magazine at. Age, intelligence, proficiency with a bike, and anything else that is relevant.
HA Y N
Oz,

I think the demographics have changed a bit since since the BMXA days only to include an older crowd now. We try to hit all levels of ages from the young guns (not too edgy or profanity) to the older rider still in the game (inclusion of the Old School section).

We think of BMXW as a mag for the serious racer. If you are a racer that buys after market products and enjoys the national level competiton, then this is your mag.

We try to feature mostly pros with the thought of bringing them back into the spotlight. We feature some hot amateurs, but they gotta be hot!! So we want the kids that do read it to have positive roll models in the sport.

But we also want to appeal to the 10 novice (with our "how to" section) and have information relevant for them.

Hope that helps.

-Leasure

PS - We also like to sprinkle a good looking gal once in a while, to spice it up ya know?!!

Oz, You deserve it. You have inspired so many of us over the years, I know that you would have tons of information to pass on to the next generation.

Greg, I think he sounds interested. I bet you can find a spot for Oz in BMX World.
Bryan Franklin
Greg, Are you out there somewhere?

Giving Oz a magazine subscription to your mag is kinda funny and shows how the world goes around...I remeber when Oz gave a BMXA subscription to some kid for running into his mom's car with his aunts tractor or something like that.
Oz
Greg Leasure,

Just got the April BMX WORLD and have flipped through it.

Let me ask you one more time; are you SURE you want me to critique your magazine? I already know that I'm going to P.O. some people, and I'm fairly certain I'm going to take some flack for my 'dated' opinion of different things.

I don't really care if I get flamed, because nobody is going to fire me. You, on the other hand, my friend, may end up with a lot more leasure time than you now have (pun intended).
