Hey all. Just a quick question.Where do you keep your vintage bmx bikes and does your wife give you a hard time about it? I keep 2 of my CYC Stormers inside and ride them when I can. The rest of the time they are stored inside in a extra bedroom along with our computers and my other hobbies(model cars, vintage AFX cars and some RC airplanes) My wife says I need to keep them in the garage where I keep my vintage 73 Suzuki TM250 and other bikes I have. I love my wife dearly but I like to show people my love for my hobbies.

My wife's only complaint is that the seats are too hard for her to enjoy riding them with me.

I have ten bikes in my basement, and three in the garage that I ride. My wife not only complains to me about them, but she also complains to our friends and anyone else that will listen. In the end she tolerates them but enjoys giving me a hard time.

My wife thought it was so cool I bought our infant a National Pro mini for him to ride someday and I have theNat Pro 24, I built her a Nat Pro 20 std so we could all go riding. Then again, she also rides MX bikes, so she's into it. I keep the m all at work in a spare office since I really don't have much space at home, and my garage is more important for cars than bikes. (Ok guys, don't lynch me for that )

Hooks on the garage, one in the computer room, a few spread here and there (the riders), and a freind of mine in CA called Darrells Mini Storage, inside which contains my "dirty little secret". It seems when I buy something, something can stay and something gets put in storage, it is a constant rotation. If I new how to post a dang picture i would. I understand the desire to show off your hobby but What are you gonna do??????

Steve, your NP's are awesome. Did you see that I just picked up an '83 Long last week? I told my wife I was done with 8. Did I say 8, or was it 9? I can't remember. (Sorry honey)

Things changed between my Wife and I the more I collected, used to use the basement but out grew that.
Built 4130 and everyone was happy again.

Mine is a similar story.
Things changed between my Wife and I the more I collected. I used to use the garage, and the unfinished bedroom, but out grew that.
Built her a new pad out back to rent and everyone was happy again.

Now the bikes are where they belong.

..And of course, some in the bedroom, living room, family room, and of course right next to the home theater in case the movie isn't worth looking at, and I think there are still a few in the garage.

now, you would not know I lived in the house, she has the rest of the place.
she has made a few comments like, you should get ride of some of that stuff, or build a garage?

My mountain bike stays in my garage, but my 3 BMX bikes, my tools, and parts stay in the basement.

I have some bikes and parts in my garage and a few of the nicer display bikes in a small spare bedroom. My wife is pretty tolerant of them especially considering all the other toys/hobbies I have.

Mine are up in the attic, I have about 20 complete bikes, but am putting the 2004 Mirra 540 up for sale next week. Cause I had to move back home, with mom, and she just shakes her head. Not sure what she really thinks, not sure I should ask either..

Does my wife give me a hard time? Surprisingly yes, well sort of. I basically dove into this hobby because I have no room to keep an old car nor do I really have the know-how to restore an old car. I thought I'd build a garage, but my property just isn't big enough.
I don't know what made me think about bikes again (It'd been 10 years since I last thought about restoring BMX bikes), but once I found this site, I went in headstrong. Still, I don't have much to work with right now (3 complete bikes that are almost completely stripped down, and 1 other frame).
I'm waiting on delivery of a 10'x16' vinyl shed/workshop to go in the back yard. I got the biggest that my township would allow me to have within code. In the meantime, I work up in my attic when it's not too cold. However, I brought a set of bars downstairs to the kitchen to steam the decals to peel them off without damaging them. I used my wife's portable steam cleaning tool. The bars sat on the kitchen counter for a week and I heard about it every day.
I heard, half-jokingly, "I can't wait til we get our shed! You've got bike parts everywhere!!!" It actually makes me giggle.

I love my wife.
Her father was the same way w/ airplanes and VW stuff. I guess she's used to it.

My wife cant really say much about but she still does. She forced me to this too. At one point I had a couple of Model A's a Ranchero, A few Model T bodys and all sort of motors. She was fed up and said I could have all the motorcycles I wanted if I got out of cars. SO.... I had 2 Harleys, 3 Triumphs, 1-1/2 Bsa's and 2 YSRS. I got tired of all the motorcycles and didnt have time for them all so I got back in to bicycles, she was happy, till more and more started coming home. Now we are moving and she said I can have the garage all to myself. She got a new house, and I got more space, Everyone is happy......

My wife is an angel and I am lucky to have her. I have carefully and slowly introduced her to my second love of BMX. She has understood my sickness and accepted it nicely. I keep my built bikes in our mud room and my incompletes downstairs in the basement.

I keep the PK20 and the Supergoose in the garage, along with a few unbuilt frames.
The Robinson, Cook Bros, and GJS are kept in what we call "my room," along with my vintage diecast car collection. We don't have a lot of room - if we did, all the bikes would be inside.
My wife is great about it all. She's not into tripping over kids bikes, so we agreed that 5 BMX bikes is the limit. I'm cool with that.

In our previous house we had a garage and she thought the whole vBMX infatuation was charming. Now that we do not have a garage it's far far less charming.

GT3540, that Kuwie cruiser is sweet!
And to stay on-topic, I think I'm more annoyed about my bikes being in the way than my "wife" is. But I hate to put them in the dusty ol' shed, and there's no more room in the basement. Do attic temperatures ruin tires?

I only have 5. One is at work and I ride it at lunch. The rest are in the garage, hanging from ceiling racks. I'm still trying to figure out how to get one or two in the house where she wouldn't mind, but I gotta get rid of some clutter first.

One of my wife's all time favorite sayings is "bikes don't belong in the living room".
Now that all the young un's have flown from the nest, I converted one of the bedrooms to an office.
My collectibles hang on the wall there now, the race bikes and choppers live in the garage

I've got 15 complete bikes and about 25 or so frames. Most are in the garage, although my 3 current race bikes along with a couple of frames and some memorabilia. Garage and house are both alarmed with ADT system with glass break sensors, motion sensors, and door sensors. I also have one bike here at work in my office that I ride at lunch time (my titanium road bike).

I've filled 2 lofts now, and need a 3rd!!!
Time for a garden shed, I think - I need one the size of Waza'a, I reckon.
(and I need a garden shed too!!! - lol)

I started out keeping them in "my room". As the collection has grown, they have started migrating into the living room. I guess it is time to build a dedicated garden shed for them....

The trick is to buy so much stuff that you have to have a room just for bikes. Then leave the room so cluttered up that you cant even walk and while your away racing she will organize the room for you . You know just like mom used too do. Really though its a trade off, help her with something she enjoys then bingo your in.
