or do these type of craigslist ads bother you too?

Not sure what irritates me more, the sheer laziness of it, or the thought that it's probably some jackass looking to flip the stuff purely for profit.

I'm always tempted to e-mail them about the pile of old bikes I got from my neighbor who used to race back in the '70's and '80's...PK this, Hutch that etc. to see how sleazy they are.

Maybe I shouldn't let it get to me, but something about it just seems wrong.

What do you guys think?

Why? I don't do it but I know a few well known and respected collectors who do it.

Lazy? maybe. Sleazy? I don't think so

what's wrong with that? it's called advertising..

a buddy of mine did this for schwinn stuff prior to the explosion of online communication.
He got a fabulous stash of stuff that was a total blast to play with, restore, sell and ride.
And some unbelievable gems right out of the pages of history.

How else are you gonna figure out where the stuff is without asking?

But the shady folks are irritating for sure.
There have been vintage guitar ads in our local paper the past months, with out of town ph#s. my first reaction is irritation, guess that's a territorial reaction?
Internets! as the big E might say.

one of these types got ahold of my grandpa when he was getting toward the end of his days.
bought all of the WWII momento's for pennies.

My Dad still can't discuss it without flying into a rage.

I don't see where it says he is a reseller and not a collector.

I do it all the time. I have bought (literally) tons and tons of stuff costing lots and lots of money and taking lots and lots of time to pick up, break down, package, market, ship, take pictures of, and clean up for others who want it.

You can complain all you want about people that do it- I like to think I do people favors. When they need something, I just might have it. Do I charge for it? Sure. My time is money. It DOES take a bit of time to do all this.

Last year I did almost 9,000 miles in my truck hunting old bmx stuff, chasing craigslist stuff, you name it. 9000 miles in a Dodge Ram is expensive.

Last year I spent a lot of hours on the road finding the stuff. Even turned down overtime at a big chunk of change to do some road trips.

You can complain about us all you want......that is, until you need something. Then we are the greatest.
