It was nice to meet Russ. I wish I could have talked to him more. I'm glad he came out and had fun.

Mark, great shots as always.
Paul Springer
Russ, it was great meeting you and I look forward to more BS sessions in the future! Take care...

Thanks for the correction Mikko. We don't want to want to look stupid.

BTW, I can't wait to see you photos from Saturday.
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
I just looked through the photos from Sunday's race at St. Michael. Looks like a great turn out. I wish I could have been there.

Paul, give me a breakdown of the class. I see Doug was there. How did you guys do?

Anyone racing this coming weekend? I see Rum River is having there big points weekend.
mikkopeters
That was such a good time on Saturday!
Russ is the new "enforcer" for the group!
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky

"He'll take this the wrong way....I'm about to get some scathing PM's"
Guest200901
Yes Dougie C. was there...

Wasn't expecting the elder bmxer's leaving the ground, but Doug proved the system wrong yesterday!

Thought these crappy photos were worth keeping, only to inspire others to try to get the wheels off the ground (well, other than Scott)

35 total motos, 4 in the old cruiser class, Doug 1st, Spring 2nd, and the rest followed.

Video is going to be up late today.
Heir Vendt
I'm building a new-school. I want to race soon. Just going around the track once was enough to get me back into it.
Guest200901
Wendt Don't forget the helmet and long pants!
Heir Vendt
Doh! That will slow my mojo down though dude.
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
That's cool Jay. Springer was a lot of help for me in getting back on the track, so if I can help in any way, please call me.

I had so much fun Saturday, I still can't stop thinking about it.

Mark, that photo you took of me in the air is now my computer wallpaper. So much for getting work done now.
Guest200901
Hopefully some OS'ers will be available July 21st for Rum River's Old School series. They are wanting to have an actually Old School race, with awards that day.

They also are wanting to set up a "Best of Show" and have people vote on old school bikes as well.

More info coming soon on all of this...
Heir Vendt
You mean...with old school Cruisers...ooooh.
I'm there...GT 24", jersey...helmet and all.

Found this out there. I thought of Mikko..

Does the Schwinn come with your legs?
scott Boecker
nice !!! sorry no legs included, but not needed with this frame and fork.
Heir Vendt
Thanks Scott.

I'm actually torn between the Kappa and the Supercross...
I road a couple others too this weekend, they were definately good also. (redline, ghp, fmf). There wasn't a huge difference between Paul's Supercross? and Scott's Redline. But, I don't like having the same bike as the rest of the folks.

Thanks though...nice f/f!
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
Jay, I never got a chance to debrief you after you rode everyone's bikes. What were your likes & dislikes about the different bikes.

I rode Paul’s bike at the barn in March long before I thought about racing again. At the time I was riding the Hutch and they are worlds apart. I should try it again to see how different it is from the Redline. I’d like to ride Rod’s GHP sometime too.

My thought was to get something complete that wasn’t too expensive in case I decided this racing thing wasn’t going to work. When you start looking, there isn’t a lot out there, especially if you want to try it before you buy it.

Scott -
Question #1
It's a difficult answer. The order or preference for me was Paul's Supercross, Your Redline, Then Rod's Ghp, followed by the FMF.

The differences where very small, but noticable.
Paul's bike is very responsive and tight. He has more after market parts on it. Drive a BMW 7 series then drive a Chevy Impala. Both nice, but...The BMW is going to out perform the Impala. Not saying that either is bad. Just different. AND a different Price point. You could spend the money to fix up the Chevy. But it wasn't marketed that way. You pay to have the parts put on at the factory with the BMW. I'll crawl off that soap box for a couple more sentences.

Your bike was the next closest. Your bars are bit off for me, but excluding that. Again, my preference, it was very good. Setup is excellant on this. Again a very minor difference. Bang for the buck GREAT bike! You have one already. (I don't drive the same car as my buds)

The GHP was next for me. Rod has this setup very nice. Ride's great. I felt that the Redline road a tich better for me. I actually really liked this bike. (Yeah...um...ROD has one already! Wahoo! Go Team MN!)

FMF is a great bike for the dollar. Price point is perfect.
For what you get, for the amount you spend. This is a really wonderful bike. (MC you need to race more)

Again, these are just my opinions. Someone else might find them in a different order.

Scott ask a glass guy to talk about a tin boat and vice versa. Mine is a pop can...love it. They both have positive and negitives according to the buyer. Both are equally good. Doesn't mean it will get any more fish in the boat. Just like spending a ton on a bike will help win a race. But I've been down this road before, as have you. Equipment can't win the race, but it can help lose the race. Details.

Question #2
You should. I could be mistaken.

Question #3
I think your logic is just fine. I think you made a sound decision. You have an excellant bike. Off-line, I have some suggestions to tweak it to the next level. And your correct, there isn't a whole heck of a lot of places to try before you buy. So...gentlemen, THANK YOU!

Aaaah heck with it. What do I know about bikes anymore?I'll stick to my old school, and go fishing. I think they consider me a "Pro" at one of those still...
Guest200901
Wendt----------YOU have spent WAY to much time on the computer today....
Heir Vendt
pot - kettle?
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
Jay, thanks for the info. I wouldn't be offended by anything you said. Everyone is different and likes different setups so it's nice to get someone's perspective on what may or may not work better.

I've only raced once and still have no clue about what works best. I felt like I was bouncing all over out there. I don't get how to be smooth through the rhythm sections. I watch and can see how to be smooth, but I can't commit to that manual thing yet. I try to do the OS pull up the front wheel before each jump and that doesn't work to keep up your momentum.

I'm just enjoying being on the track again and I'm having fun trying to be fast. These new tracks and bikes are so different, you just have to pick something and go with it. I would love to hear what you think about upgrades to the Redline. My plan is to get comfortable riding first and then worry about what to change.
Paul Springer
I still think a lot of it is riding ability, Boecker could wax just about anyone on that old Schwinn. Now he is wicked fast AND he can do freestyle on his new C-Ya bike.
Heir Vendt

Just got the word from Mr. Shirtless Walton...

The Brainerd weekend is on!!!!! Don't forget that jT has his thing going on as well that weekend too

Paul Springer
LOL, Rodley the squirrel... Looks like Rod lost his tickets to the gun show.
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
Awesome photos Mikko. That one of Russ & Rod is priceless.
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
Okay, who's in for Brainerd? I left that weekend open hoping this would come through. Manning promised the royal treatment for us metro boys if we came up there.

I was thinking of getting a hotel room Saturday night and making it a two day'er.

Pauli, I betting you’re in on this one.

Jay, bring the boat and the bike.
Guest200901
I'm In!
mikkopeters
Yeah, Manning's Magic is sponsoring a evening of entertainment.
Heir Vendt
ooooh...That may work. I might even bring the Wife.
mikkopeters
I'm down for the event.
Paul Springer
I just spoke with my sister who lives up that way on Lake Shamineau and she has offered up her place for the weekend. She has a place that can sleep 10. Best of all the price is free, let me know if anyone is interested?
Guest200901
Put me down for 2 people, non-smoking, 2 queen size beds, sheets untucked at the end, and a mint on the pillow
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
If I can ditch the family, I can make that happen too. Put me down for one of the MC specials, extra mint please.
Paul Springer
MC, there is a good bit of camping space too. We can swim and fish too... Is Rain racing this weekend?
mikkopeters
I'm in for Saturday. I'll bring some extra "mints" for Conley.
